Yea lets kill all your favourite characters just so you cant read any more storys about them, fucking great idea Marvel >_>
am I the only guy that LIKES double shipping? Waiting a whole month for the next part of the story sucks
Hamlet the character was created for his fate. It was his literary destiny. The same is true for the BR kids and Katniss & co. With the exception of the BA kids all of these characters are from other books and were made to be ongoing players in the marvel U. Them being in this story robs us of future chances to read about them in the kind of stories they were meant to be in.
If this story were only about the Braddock academy kids my objections would not be so bad. It's still a derivative setup but at least Hopeless would only be breaking his own toys.
I can't say there was anything in this to make me think I'm going to get more than the first issue. Basically even if a character I like doesn't die, it's going to be reduced to the point where everything I enjoy about the character and personality get beaten down to make it a killer. Basically, if you're fans of these characters, I think you're pretty much left hoping the book's cancelled quickly, before Hopeless does any damage to your favorites (i.e. hopefully he'll get rid of Duckhawk and his own new characters before the Runaways, the Avenger Academics and Cammi).
The way I fell about the transition from Avengers Academy to Avengers Arena is analogous to the way I've felt about Marvel as a whole in the last few years. I've gone from feeling deeply invested to just pure apathy. I can't even generate the energy to get angry like S/D anymore, and that's even worse than nerd-rage. I'm just burnt out after OMD, Ultimatum, Secret Invasion, Siege, World War Hulks and Children's Crusade (We've collected all of the YA that matter to see the memorial, but can't be bothered to send a Quinjet to the American Southwest for Patriot. F' that dude.)
Marvel pays lip service to continuity, but they've made it quite clear that the characters I was reading about for years are no longer in existence, and they have no real respect for the new characters I've grown invested in, like the Avengers Academy kids. Hell, Marvel even Loeb-otomized their animated offerings, so I have no refuge there. Going forward, I guess it'll only be "Make Mine Marvel's Movies!", as Image and DC, plus indies get my comic book spending.
Remember when Frank Castle blew up that bar and "killed" a bunch of Villains?
And then Dan Slott had them all show up later on in She-Hulk and all of them only had minor cuts and bruises and first degree burns?
After this wretched idea for a comic gets aborted after a few issues, I'll laugh when all the victims show up in other comics with some band-aids and this entire premise becomes the farcical punchline in retrospect it deserves to be.
Stay strong, S/D!!
I believe all that needs to be said has been. So here’s my two cents.”-- ScottMC, inadvertently summing up the Internet.
Could you explain a bit more about this? The nature of his powers have expanded a great bit, since he unlocked new features in War of Kings.
Heavy-duty mode allows him greater fire-power than pretty much anyone on the island, and carbon-casing mode allows him great agility and speed. Basically, his alien technology makes a real heavy-hitter in murderworld.
I'd say Hopeless assessment of him is fairly correct, Darkhawk currently has the power to win this day one, should he want to.
Or are you simply worried that he will be killed off because his power comes from the gem embedded within his body?
This is a test. If the title does well enough, it'll be the event in 2015 to slim the ranks of the C thru Z-listers of adult heroes.
More seriously, I'm not sold on this. No matter how good the character work is, it's still blatantly a cash-in attempt on the success of The Hunger Games.

I do take from the article that at some point if AA sells well enough then the Murder World story will reach a conclusion. What direction the title shall take afterwards is speculation-worthy.
I'm sorry, but this thread just isn't the same without S/D. Him getting smacked with the ban hammer is sad.
Hey, that tiger is flying a spaceship.
