I agree. But I think the biggest shame is how DWF doesn't make any sense without him as the puppeteer.

Yes. I think so too. And Rogue keeps seeing dead characters. I think she's clearly being manipulated in some way, or at least someone is trying to manipulate her. First Xavier, then Quentin Quire and now Psylocke.

Not only did Apocalypse attempt to exterminate all mutants with Divided We Fall, it's also been hinted that he may have partially orchestrated Ultimatum. But so far we know for sure, that Stryker's involvement, Quicksilver's involvement and the creation of the Nimrod Sentinels were all part of Apocalypse' plan to exterminate all mutants. It's the biggest plot development since the Death of Spider-Man!
