The last few years my interest in comics has swung almost entirely towards the art. Brubaker and Peter David were probably the last writers I followed, but Brubaker's Cap run seemed to run out of juice after Steve Rogers came back and, while I loved Sleeper and early Criminal, what (admittedly little) I've read Fatale and Incognito feels like he's going back to the same well a bit too often. I still follow David's X-Factor in trade, but he hasn't done any new Fallen Angel stuff in a while. The only other thing that I know he's been doing regularly is the Dark Tower stuff and, as much as I like David, I dislike King more.
As far as artists:
Alan Davis
Olivier Coipel
Chris Samnee
Leonard Kirk
Stuart Immonen
JP Leon
(just to name a few)
I sort of liked Loveless (although, admittedly, I bought it mostly for Fruisin's art). Bullets started out as an interesting concept that tried to become something weightier than it could support. It sort of reminded of what I most dislike about TV genre shows post X-Files and Lost, where building "mythology" too often takes precedent over actually telling a story. But, overall, nothing about Azzarello's writing has ever really wowed me.
