Magik should take it since she's a better fighter, has got much better teleportation (useful in combat) and a sword that is a guaranteed one-shot on Maddie. Illyana even now has some good on-earth magic feats popping up here and there - see AvX Consequences, for example.

Pass. But even if she did, apparently a Phoenix-powered Rachel couldn't get inside Magik's head. And Maddie, if she even had any psychic powers, would not be on THAT level.
