I would say the titles I would recommend most highly are Chew and Atomic Robo, but that could easily change (the rest of my pull list is in my sig) by next month!
Chew, Daredevil, Fatale, Mind The Gap, The Sixth Gun and The Walking Dead
my pull list fluctuates way too much...
I change it up about once every couple months. It usually includes
12~17 DC
0~3 Marvel
4~10 indies
Some examples of fluctuation - have dropped/re-pulled JL, Aquaman, and some Bats titles a couple times. Have done the same for some indies like Saga and Fatale. Have dropped Massive just recently, probably sticking by that one. Have gone back and forth on a variety of X-titles...
Funny coincidence, it's around that time that I'm going to change my pull list! I've decided to focus on Valiant and DC, so that means no more Marvel (need to update sig!), although I may still pick up a title here or there off the shelf. As of this very second, my pull list looks like this:
DC
Action Comics
All-Star Western
Flash
Justice League Dark
Nightwing
Supergirl
Superman
Wonder Woman
Dark Horse
Conan the Barbarian
Image
BlackAcre
Manhattan Projects
Saga
Valiant
Archer & Armstrong
Bloodshot
Harbinger
Shadowman
X-O Manowar
contenders to get to 20 for 20% off at LCS (will probably pick no more than 5):
Aquaman
Batman
Batman & Robin
Birds of Prey
Demon Knights
Detective Comics
Dial H
Justice League
Red Hood & the Outlaws
Stormwatch
Sword of Sorcery
Comics were happier before the Internet turned writing superhero stories into fruitless attempts to impress/entertain a small group of ppl who appear to hate comics and their creators.
Grant Morrison
DC:
Batman
Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Frankenstein
Justice League Dark
American Vampire
Arrow
Smallville
Batman Beyond
Superman Beyond
Justice League Beyond
Legends of the Dark Knight
I'll be picking up Green Arrow again once a proper writer is on board with #17. I'll check out the Legion again once Giffen returns along with Giffen's Threshold series. Larfleeze AND Captain Carrot = MUST BUY!
Marvel:
Hawkeye
so far I'm liking: FF, Fantastic Four, Uncanny Avengers, and Hulk. Iron Man is okay enough that I'm in it for the first arc.
Image:
Prophet
Point of Impact
The Walking Dead
IDW:
Transformers
GI Joe
Star Trek
Richard Stark's Parker
Dark Horse:
Some Star Wars here & there, Dark Times is my favorite, but Agent of the Empire is fun as well. Legacy is returning in 2013, so I'm down for that. (Funny that the second George Lucas is outta the picture, we get Legacy back.)
Others:
The Spider
I've gotten bored with Valiant 4.0 and have dropped everything but Harbinger already. In most cases, they're nothing but decompressed re-tellings of the old stuff that I already own and not worth $3.99 to re-read.
Recommended Comics:
Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye
american vampire
saga
locke and key
bloodshot
harbinger
x omanowar
archer and armstrong
shadowman
swampthing animalman batman flash wonder woman
winter soldier wolverine and x men ff thor god of thunder
Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Hellboy
BPRD
Witchfinder
Lobster Johnson
Baltimore (...so, any Mignola book)
Usagi Yojimbo
The Goon
Dark Horse Presents
Popeye
Classic Popeye
Adventure Time
... for floppies. Trade waiting for a few more series.
Comics are expensive enough that I limit myself to 5 titles at any given time, and as a rule I stay away from absolutely any crossover or event stories from the big two. I refuse to spend more on comics than I spend on a gym membership, for instance. A hobby really shouldn't cost any more than that.
Rant out of the way, here's what I'm reading right now.
Saga
Manhattan Projects
Bedlam (liked the first two issues, so I'll read it for awhile)
Batman Inc.
And that's it for titles I'm commited to. I like to leave a slot open to try out new stuff. I have tried a few Marvel Now books so far. I purchased Thor God of Thunder last month, and traded the digital code included for an All New X-Men code. Both were good, but I don't think I'll be following them going forward.
I do pick up books for family members though, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't reading and enjoying these as well:
Angel & Faith (my wife is a Buffy / Angel fan, but I've been enjoying the book a lot myself).
Wolverine & The X-men (another my wife enjoys)
Ghostbusters (I pass it off to my niece and nephew, but it's still an entertaining all ages book. I find myself looking forward to it every month.)
I pull like 40 titles, but the things I find myself most looking forward to are Manhattan Projects, Saga, All-New X-Men, Thor God of Thunder, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and TMNT.
"That's the thing about the Phoenix. There always has to be destruction... Before rebirth. " - Scott Summers
Well, I trade wait all my stuff, because I cant afford singles anymore, but this is the stuff I get.
DC
Aquaman
Animal Man
The Flash (Highly Recomended)
Legion of superheroes (I'm glad Giffen is coming back)
Legion Lost (its being cancelled, so I may not get the second trade)
Superboy
Supergirl
Teen Titans
I'll also get Earth 2 when it comes out in March
Marvel
ASM and possibly SSM when I find out who's under the mask.
Fantastic Four and FF
Thor: god of thunder and possibly Journey into Mystery.
Red She Hulk
Possibly Young Avengers.
Dark horse:
Empowered, I love this series.
Red 5:
Atomic Robo beats the pants off everything at the big 2. Its criminal that it isn't talked about more. Volume 7 is being released this week on amazon.
Archie:
Sonic the Hedgehog Ive read this book since I was a kid, and I love it. It reads like a Saturday morning cartoon and its not ashamed of that.
Mega Man: This book is really good too, Im looking forward to the crossover with sonic next year.
Sonic Universe: I tend to skip over the arcs Im not interested in.
New Crusaders: Ive heard nothing but good things about it. The first trade doesnt come out until april, but I think I might just subscribe to the singles.
Boom:
The Hypernaturals. DnA on a cosmic team can do no wrong. Im also going to get Legion Worlds next year.
