Default February Vertigo solicits... 4 ongoings?

Only five Vertigo ongoing books solicited for Feb 2013, and one is the soon to be cancelled Hellblazer. There may be some delays on some titles and some not quite out yet, but still very depressing to see. Anyone that's been around longer ever seen such a terrible month for Vertigo?

Yeah the New 52 has been a death knell for Vertigo, and not to mention the media rights contracts with the formation of DC Entertainment making Image preferable.

We'll be getting Snyder and Lemire books, two Jason Aaron projects, and Before Sandman to give it a shot in the arm. But might not be enough.

Y'know, it might be nice if somebody posted a link to the Feb. 2013 Vertigo solicitations to go with this discussion.

    Here's one: http://www.comicbox.com/index.php/ne...ertigo-others/

What does it matter? As long as they are writing quality comics, it really doesn't matter what company they're writing at. I've never understood brand loyalty when it comes to creator owned comics. The whole point of creator owned comics is the focus on the creators. So do that and not the company they're writing for.

To be fair, there's a special kind of legacy with Vertigo. The movement that started with Swamp Thing, and lead to Hellblazer, Sandman, Animal Man, etc. was legendary. Vertigo was more like a spiritual movement in comics.

Hey man you are 100% right
I love what each of the writers I listed are doing independently and agree with you on brand loyalty
its just that Vertigo has some of my favourite comics that I love dear and would hope the future to bright with some great writers

And Azzarello. From what I've heard, Spaceman might continue.

I want Vertigo to do well, because I want Karen Berger to do well. She has done a lot for comic books at Vertigo these last 20 years or so. Otherwise I'd have no brand loyalty.

Thanks, I was going to ask where to find information about the solicit, because I was not able to find the official one.

Very much doubt 'Before Sandman' will be Vertigo branded. Also, there's a 'Before 100 Bullets' coming as well apparently.
    Meh!
