Because having two books too similar diminishes the uniqueness of the other book. Just like how you have so many similar FPS's these days, Hawkeye just really reeks of trying too hard to be Waid's Daredevil. They need to separate their tones, or else Hawkeye will end up beging forgettable compared to Mark Waid's run.

I like both, but I'm enjoying Hawkeye more.

Also, i recommend the Kraken black spiced rum.

Last DD's knocked it out of the park for me. I just don't think Hawkeye will be that long lasting when DD trumps it many ways.

I loved Hawkeye 3, but man, Hawkeye 4 was just trying way to freaking hard to be Mark Waid's Daredevil.

-"I'm not an Avenger!"/"I'm not Daredevil!"
-Video Tape/Master Drive that dozens of villain fractions want.
-Just the tone overall.

Not to mention, the book looks like it's just going to be "Hawkeye screws up, Kate solves problem."

This book really doesn't deserve this amount of praise.

Neither book deserve the praise they get! Hawkeye and Fraction suck! Bring back gritty Daredevil!

And of course Kate saves his ass, she's his sidekick and she's awesome. That's the whole point of having a sidekick.

I also liked Avengers and Daredevil...and was let down by JIM and was kind of meh on Cap.

Same here, glad I dropped JiM after this first issue. Cap I have issues with, but I will hang on another few issues to see if that changes. And that won't be for 10 issues if things don't improve by issue 3.

As far as drinks, you all get sloshed for me guys, not a booze drinker.

DD and Hawkeye are good books if you like those characters, I don't.

S/D could not be more wrong about Hawkeye. Seriously, its one of Marvel's finest books, and the tone remains that of The Rockford Files with a dose of modern self-awareness.

Its not "trying to be Daredevil" at all.

Also, Hawkeye would seem to be proving more popular a title with those who had or have little love for the man, rather than those who love the character from the 70s / 80s. One of the most common things I'm seeing is "I hate Hawkeye the character, but I love this book to bits" or similar.

Surprised that people didn't like Journey Into Mystery, though. I thought both the writing and art were great, and worked well together. I understand that language so formal could be a put-off for some readers, but also felt that people who enjoyed Gillen's use of formal language wouldn't have a problem with it.

Except the art on this one was by Javier Pulido, and most people still loved it. He's a great choice for a rotating artist with Aja.
