PAD took a group of disparate characters that very few people cared about before, and makes the title that features them of the best and most consistent books on the stands since 2005, while also making you love damn near every one of said characters.

It effortless shifts from detective story to high adventure, to drama, to action, to soap opera, to time jumping/alternate realities, all whilst seeding future storylines as it pays off previous ones.

It's just one of the best books Marvel puts out; there's not really all that much to elaborate on without getting spoilery. What makes any great book great? You kind of just have to try it out and see for yourself.

Okay, good, so it will have arcs I can enjoy, and the concept of taking characters few people care about is something I would do if I ever worked at Marvel.

However, I just pre-ordered Captain Marvel anyway. It occurs to me that since the only Marvel books I have are Ultimate Spider-Man, the Carnage minis, and the FCBD chapter of Spider-Man: Season One, Captain Marvel is technically my first main universe ongoing.

Unless someone could recommend a Spider-Man trade. Preferably collecting stories very old stories.
