She got Batgirl into #17 spot. I think she's gonna be a blow.

I'm a big fan of Simone. But the BAT in Batgirl is the main reason it is a top 20 book right now. The Bat books are excelling in the current market. Simone has had many titles that were nowhere near the top 20 (many I personally like, don't get me wrong - big BOP and Secret Six fan here) so I think you are overvaluing her touch on the book as far as sales numbers go. And again, I like Gail. Not really a big fan of her latest Batgirl and think she has done much better stuff before and will do better stuff in the future. The book will be fine without her. Good for her for standing up for something she believes in and hope she bounces back fast. I expect she will.

SHE didn't; the book being in the Bat-family means it'll sell well regardless, and in this specific instance, Death of the Family, re: Scott Snyder were the impetus for its chart position.

Steph Batgirl was selling in the lower 20,000's.

This is the new 52 with Bat books selling much higher. And this isn't Steph Batgirl.
Babs is the most famous and successful BG and the one the current market demographics most go for.
Younger fans take to Steph and there may be room for a book there but Babs is just the bigger star (especially to the 30+ year old crowd) and New 52 made it possible to optimize that.

In a year since new 52 Batgirl is up 110 percent. Detective is up 121 percent. Snyder on Batman up 150 percent. The New 52 has been very very good to the Bat books.
