I will say, after reading Wacker's interview thing on the front page, that Marvel has done a good job of keeping Superior Spider-Man under wraps. I have no idea still who it is or what the tone of the book will be and that has me increasing my excitement levels

They've been kinda good about these things with certain writers.

To me, it's the other way around. They're still pretty awful though.

Picked up some free digital comics on Marvel's site, and here's what I got, and my preliminary expectations:

The Amazing Spider-Man #1: You're Hired! - Guessing this is a self-help comic. Not expecting much from this, but it might be fun.
The Amazing Spider-Man #36 - Was interested in picking up something from JMS's run, but the idea that it deals with 9/11 makes me nervous.
Avengers vs. X-Men #0 - This is actually what prompted me to get these free issues. Marvel announced that this was free over on Twitter, and I figure I should check it out.
Cable & Deadpool - In spite of the Liefeld cover, this book is good correct? I know someone said this is the best Deadpool book, unless I'm horribly mistaken.
Captain America: A Little Help - Again, self-help comic. Might as well just grab them while they're there.
Captain America: The First Avenger #1: First Vengeance - Because I'm actually thinking of giving these tie-in books a chance.
Castle: Richard Castle's Storm Season Preview - I've seen several episodes of Castle, so I'll check this out, although I notice that it's a sequel and an adaptation. I loved when this book had a cameo on the show.
Fear Itself #1 - Because I want to check this out, and just about all of you will tell me to save my money.
Iron Man 2.0 Saga #1 - Because why not?
Marvel's The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week #1 - Again, just for the sake of checking out the tie-ins.
New Mutants #1 - Never got around to reading the free comics I got for X-Men: First Class besides the tie-in comic. Oh well, at least I have some kind of X-Men comic now.
Spider-Man: Noir #1 - Not ashamed to admit that I liked Shattered Dimensions. Now if only I had an issue of Spider-Man 2099.
Ultimate Comics Avengers 2 #2 - I must have missed when the first issue was free. Oh well, more Ultimate books for me, finally.
Ultimate Comics X-Men #1 - Yay, another Ultimate issue!
    Uncanny X-Force #1 - I don't think this needs an explanation.

I have AvX, FI, and UXF open in separate tabs. I'll read them later and give my thoughts.

I think the interior art on Captain Marvel scared me away. I peeped some of the stories, and could have gone either way, but the interior art really bothered me. I can't explain why. But it also is jarring because the covers look so cool.

This. I was thinking about trying Nova, even though I didn't want to read a new Nova, I prefer one of the Riders. But the Point One story was so goofy and not really interesting that I kind of changed my mind. I'll probably flip through it on the shelf and see what I think.

It felt like really following the Green Lantern parallels heavily, with Sam failing to protect a planet much like John Stewart did. However, the fact that Sam's only reaction is "Epic fail" was really just weak. It doesn't make me believe that he feels guilty for the loss of millions, if not billions of lives, and that he doesn't take his job as a protector too seriously.

It's really more like Grand Guignol with Dr Praetorious dining in the tombs and the shrieking maid running around the family castle. But I still enjoy it as of one the great horror classics and the musical score is one of the best for the genre. Some shocking movies from that era (because it some places they were banned) were "Black Cat" were Lugosi skins Karloff or Charles Laughton's "Island of Lost Souls" mostly because they cover topics like vivisection and necrophilia. I think Lugosi was better in "Black Cat" then he was in "Dracula", which is very stagey.
I haven't seen House of Wax, Bride of Frankenstein, Black Cat, or heard of Island of Lost Souls. They sounds worth checking out though.

Is that a bunch of Novas escorting some vaguely Kang-like villain? If so, that would make a lot more sense.
Hey, that tiger is flying a spaceship.

Interesting that Thor and IM lagged behind Deadpool, Hulk, and Cap...and Fantastic Four even topped Thor.
IM lagging doesn't surprise me, but Thor does.
