I think it's supposed to be a shadow, but now that you mention it, it looks like he's lazily flying sideways, which is hilarious.

Wasp bored me in comics, but I really did like her in EMH.

She's great in EMH. One of the best things in the show - they got everything that's good about her (her spirit, her courage, her joie de vivre), and ignored all of the bad she's been lumbered with over the years.

Oddly, she's shone through in these last couple of Bendis issues; it's as if he's really wanting to make up for the crap he put her through during his tenure. I'm only sad he didn't write her like this all along.

I already made that mistake in the last thread before I knew how liberally I needed to spoiler tag things.

And how could you not get in to EMH? I thought it was one of the best representations of The Avengers in recent years.

I haven't liked anything I've read of his: just shock for shock's sake. Doesn't offend, just bores me. And the would be clever stuff comes across not so much.

UA was just plain silly and not in good ways -seriously Living Wind and Goat-head girl?

Technically UA was my third strike, but I wanted to give Cap a chance, so three issues is more than enough. JRJr's art isn't my style either.

After Cap issue 3, I'll politely skip any more Remender.

For my $3.99, I expect better.

I saw Chronicle last night. I give it a pretty solid Thumbs Down. The most distracting element was the "found footage" aspect. Completely worthless vehicle for this story, not to mention completely overplayed. It felt like more time was spent trying to think of clever ways to shoot the story than to just tell it. And it certainly could have been interesting enough on its own. There wasn't a shot where I wasn't aware of where the camera was or the hand of the director behind it. It was too clever by half.

And after about the 20 minute mark, it just lost its way. It felt like the story wanted to hit specific beats but didn't know how to get there or how to achieve the necessary emotional arc(s) to make it resonate. And I think structurally that was the biggest problem with the script: There isn't any real emotional arc for any of the characters, just routine obstacles and jerks they have to get around - and not all that successfully. They were just aimless punks. I didn't really have high expectations or anything outside of thinking I'd like it. So it went from a possible unpolished gem to relative turd.

But it has a pretty high rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it did some solid numbers at the box office. I just didn't dig it.

I wasn't in love with it/merely found it watchable, but yours is the most negative review of it I think I've seen.

I love The Avengers, I just don't see the point in Wasp.

I think creators keep her around because she was a founding member, but at some point you just need to hold your hands up and admit that Stan and Jack weren't always right.

I just can't understand how you can love the Avengers & not hold a strong opinion on someone who led the team.

I mean, you seem like a reasonable person, so obviously you love Monica & wish Dr. Druid was back on the roster. But Jan's a non-entity?

I love Nextwave Monica, and I like Druid from Secret Warriors.

Jan has never done anything to impress me.
