Default Would you get your variants signed?

Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and RICK REMENDER will be at my LCS for singing. I am wondering if I should get my Young variants signed by them.

I know sometimes getting some comics signed drops the value down on some comics unless its authenticated or sometimes even it is authenticated( but most likely on really old hard to find comics)

I was wondering if i should get these variants signed by the writers.

    would you guys?

Yup, you shouldn't buy comics for the intention of value.

I would not get variants in the first place.

if it matters to you do it. One of the best times I ever had was meeting George Perez at Wizard World Chicago in 1996, back when he was pushing his Gorilla label book Crimson Dynamo. I was lucky enough to have about a 15-20 minute conversation with him about his work, the industry etc. The book never went anywhere but I still have the print and my #1 that he signed framed in my office. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in life. Honest. So who cares about the value, (unless you do,) if its sentimental like mine is, its worth the weight in gold as they say.

any reason. Only reason i sometimes get variants is because i love the cover art and the LCS i go to for my variants sell them at cover price so it makes no difference.

Well. I'm buying a signed copy of avengers assemble #9 from Kelly sue deconnick as I think she's the best writer out there. It's up to you buddy, honestly, if I could sign all my books fr my favourites I would. You should maybe buy two copies of the comic. One to sign and frame, the other to read.

If I like the cover art of a book, I just download the JPEG from the Internet. I get more entertainment value from a desktop background than a book cover. Otherwise, I just buy whatever the LCS guy sticks in my folder. Sometimes it's a 50/50 variant; usually it's not; it's never a rare/uncommon variant.

As for the signing... Do whatcha like. I wouldn't do anything hoping to increase value, but if you like the creators enough to want their autograph, then go for it.

You pick the one you like best, or do you buy the regular plus the variant?

Which would you be more proud of, the variant signed or non variant signed? That's the question I would ask myself. I don't think a signature would diminish the price one way or another (with everyone going to conventions these days and there being so many, is anyone REALLY skeptical if someone tells them they got a book signed by said creator?)

I say go for it if you really want to. I personally really enjoy getting things signed and meeting creators
Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

I would have no aversion to getting a variant signed. I don't really hold with those who think it devalues an item. I realize there is the issue of verification, but it's not something I think about, and I don't usually sell signed books, anyway. Besides, unless it's a signature of one of the great old legends, is anyone really going to bother forging one?
