Default If Spider-Man Was To Be Proven to Be In The MCU...

What would the advantages and disadvantages be for both parties? (Columbia and MARVEL) Not necessarily a complete crossover (although discuss that too) but Easter Eggs and references. In my opinion, with Easter Eggs and references the companies could only benefit since a) no profits need to be shared and b) it can only bring more excitement for both franchises going forward. When comes down to crossovers (Spidey appearing in the Avengers), however, the legal stuff, profit division, etc. may not be worth it unless Spidey is a severely integral part of the story (Civil War). What do you guys think?

If spidey were to be in an Avengers sequel Sony would need enough time to rearrange their upcoming movies so their release dates won't clash. Sony would then probably ask for 8-10% of the films overall gross as well as a percentage of the merchandise sales related to Spiderman (Disney own the rights to the Spidey merch). Easter eggs and references could have a stronger chance of happening though as not much money needs to exchange hands. Sony may be more willing to cooperate with Disney as their financial position is in the toilet and the fact that spidey is pretty much thier only franchise. Fox may also cooperate with Disney, Mark millar has made it clear his films dont want to overlap with Sonys and Disneys, the fact that Fox and Disney share some of the rights to some characters (skrulls, namor, scarlet witch) could lead to a chance for the 2 to coop in the future, Fox's marvel films have also been making less and less money with each installment so that also could be an influencing factor. And btw a Civil war movie probably will probably never happen unless all the studios (fox,Disney,Sony) were finding it difficult for their comic films to turn a profit.

Fiege stated that Civil War would "be just right" for Avengers 3 though.

Unless they're gonna do it half-arsed with half the characters missing I don't see a point, but then again it could probably still be kinda entertaining.

    It'd be brilliant.

While Spectacular Spider-man was amazing with only the Spidey comics, you're a lot more pressed for space in films. Confirmation that they all take part in the same place would be pretty awesome.

Although, if Avengers 2 wants to destroy New York, then that will bugger up the Spidey world.

Spider-man could cameo in an Avengers film, just to reinforce it.

If Spider-Man was a member of the team in Avengers 2 there would be obvious advantages to both parties.
Disney gets something big for a sequel that's going to have high expectations. And Spider-Man was in the story Whedon's looking forward to adapting.
And Sony gets to hitch Spidey to the Avengers bandwagon.

If they hinted at links between the cinematic worlds, it would be a nice easter egg.

But there's no point to doing anything in the middle, as that just results in disappointed in theatergoers.
