Yes it is. My favorite batbook right now
Currently reading: Animal Man vol 4
Oh God... yes!!!!!!! However, it is deeply rooted in continuity by a writer who has been crafting a 6 YEAR story! If you can get Morrison's run first, definitely hop on this title! It's amazing!
If not, it's a tough call. It's only 5 issues in in vol 2, so they aren't rare or hard to find.
I started with the Batman Inc. volume 1 HC, but I always knew all about the other stuff that happened in the run so I wasn't so confused. But yes, the first issue does tell you the basics, but it's much better if you read the whole run.
And is it just me or does this thread pop up every month?
Action Comics, Batman, Justice League, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Night Wing, The Flash, Batman And Robin, Teen Titans, Batman Inc. , Earth 2, Avengers Vs Xmen
I've been reading Batman comics for thirty-five years, and this just doesn't seem like something Batman would do. And why would all these strangers want to adopt the private symbology of someone else? Did bats fly through their windows too?Batman traveling the globe and assembling an army of Batmen...
In my opinion, ever since Justice League debuted fifty years or so ago, there have always been two Batmen in DC Comics: one in character, one not. The in character Batman is an obsessed loner who combats street-level crime, only rarely ventures outside of Gotham when a special threat calls for it, and doesn't ever fight off alien invasions. The out of character Batman regularly journeys into space and fights bad guys like Darkseid. Creating Batman Inc. strikes me as something the out of character Batman would be interested in--in fact, the concept seems like it would be perfectly at home in the 1950's-1960's era Batman comics.
Inc is great.
The current run of BaR has high points and low points. The first arc collected into trade is pretty great and I really like 10 and 0 but I dropped it for it's inconstancy. Definitely get Morrisons run on the book though, it is mindblowingly awesome at parts (Professor Pyp could very well be the greatest villain ever with close competition from the Flamingo).
Batman got the symbol from the bat flying through his window, but from there he became a living idea of the world. It's that idea that's spread across the world inspiring others to join him. A natural progression of the Batman Family, Outsiders, Club of Heroes, etc.
Yes. It goes to the core of him being as much a hero as a detective or crimefighter.
It's like in the Nolan films where people mention that Batman was the one to show them that they could stop being afraid and fight back.
Just recently read the current Inc and it's sweet as bear meat. I feel like I owe it to myself to catch up on the Morrison issues I missed over the years, so yeah.
