Default MARTIAN MANHUNTER: AMERICAN SECRETS - Any Good???

came across this 3 issue mini series MARTIAN MANHUNTER: AMERICAN SECRETS - http://www.comicvine.com/martian-man...crets/49-4749/

sounds very cool, noir-ish being set in the 50s-60s

    is it any good?
was it ever collected? (i searched amazon and only could find the single issues)

never heard of this. Only review I could find:

Martian Manhunter's always been one of those drastically underutilized characters to me. My favorite Martian Manhunter story is probably new frontier. After that Morions does an okay job with him in his Justice League run, but that's about it in my opinion. Never really cared for what they did with him in JLI.

From what I gather this arc doesn't seem to be that special. But if your a fan of Martian Manhunter or more golden age comics. I'd say just go for it and see for yourself.

It's a rather interesting read. Never mind whether it is, or how much of it is, "in continuity", and just go with the flow.
In a lot of ways it's as much an homage to the B-movie sci-fi flicks of the 1950's as it is to the film noir era - and if you're familiar with MAD Magazine, there's the extra fillip of little side-lights from that ("Zoprbetie" = "Potrzebie").
Everything I state is JUST MY OPINION. Take what you like and leave the rest.

No, It's never been collected. Only the three issues Prestige Format.
As for the story, personally, I found it kind of meh, but never was much of a Gerard Jones fan. Now, the art, by the late great Ed Barreto is fantastic. Really powerful pencils.
Is it woth tracking down? If you find it cheap, sure, but, as much as I love J'onn and Barreto, I wouldn't spend much on it.

    Peace

I rather liked it. Probably my favourite Martian Manhunter story, in fact. But then, it also has Dr. Mid-Nite in it, and if it has a JSA connection I'm always going to be biased...
