The flag thing was pretty much what I expected, so I have no desire to get any of the variants. That being said, I hope they polish up the flag images at least. So far it looks like some really bad photoshopping.
Kind of you to not just call them BORING
Hey, cool! I didn't know Stargirl was in this. Nice to see her in the DCNu.
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
dafuq? they didn't even try!
It makes sense, actually. 50 different covers equals 50 drawn pages and that's expensive and also time-consuming if you have the same artist doing them. Also it's probably easy to have one cover and drop in a gif file before printing. I'd also worry about really stupid looking covers if DC wanted to get into the spirit of each state. Would Massachusetts have the JLA eating baked beans or driving on the sidewalks?
That many covers with a book that's celebrating its history also can benefit from something like the Hero Initiative covers, where different artists all take a crack at it. But this book, as with nuDC is about starting new. The pre-Flashpoint is now irrelevant; the team is new and is being publicized as such.
Still, the idea of 50 interlocking covers in a huge 10 x 5 grid... Ah, to dream until reality hits.

That's a nicer concept than what I was expecting, to be honest. In my head it was just a little stamp in the corner of a generic image.
Freedom is the ability to live without fear of persecution. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.
I have to admit that I will buy the first issue because of the state flags concept. I am proud of my new home state, so I'll definitely pick up that variant. Had I still been living in my native state, I wouldn't have even bothered with the title, let alone the variant.
I was expecting the best buildings or something.
