Look at some of the doorbusters they have. Still wouldn't wait in line for them.

Hell depending on what you want you could find it online just as cheap or waiting till it gets closer to Christmas.

    Anyone else feel this way?
Mostly but sometimes the deal is something you cant find as cheap or even nearly so online

Edit: Wait...is it because of how much money the stores make? So they are definetly in the black on that day? for real, whats the name come from?
That is where the name comes from, the day that retailers could transition from using red ink (for negative balances) to back ink

    Michael P uses wit's soul:

It's a big, loud spectacle. The American media likes selling those, and the American public likes buying them.
    Nicely concise.

I avoid going out that day at all costs. I've been forced into it too many times in the past. But I don't participate in the whole holiday gift giving thing, so it's really not much of a sacrifice. I do find it telling that a rather large portion of this country's retail sales are involved with us buying each other presents. Doesn't seem stable to me.

    Grr.
(Growled at the wrong post before.)

Anyway, there ARE some amazing deals/products to be had amidst the waves of mediocrity. Some Are available after-the-fact. Some are not.

Factor in lower incomes and it makes some sense that some people might want to save some money.

I don't get the whole Black Friday thing either. It seems to me that it's another case of people letting the consumerism that's attached itself to the winter holidays drive them bananas. Now, I like the holidays. However, some people need to really keep themselves in check around holiday time. Every once in a while when they find themselves pushing and shoving for a hot toy that their three-year-old will just end up burying in their toy box in a couple months, they should ask themselves "Is this really so important?" Heck, some people ought to just ask themselves that every five or six minutes during late November and into the month of December.

Of course, I've only got to buy gifts for a maximum of six people so far and I work odd hours so I can get out to the stores and shop when it's not crazy packed. So, I'm not quite in the same boat everyone else is.

At times like this I'm reminded of this

Frank Costanza: "Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way."
Cosmo Kramer: "What happened to the doll?"
Frank Costanza: "It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born: a Festivus for the rest of us!"
Kramer: "That must have been some kind of doll."
    Frank Costanza: "She was."

I like the crowded, cheerful Christmas attitude bustling around the mall. I love the deals. Buying things stimulates the economy, or so I've heard. Buy nothing day is unpatriotic.

It never ceases to amuse me how many people continue to miss the real point of that episode.
