I jumped off during "One More Day" and I've been successfully ignoring the awful retcons and reboots...

I did hear about this new ill-conceived story though. I'll just ask people this: would YOU add a Doc Ock books about Doc Ock to your regular comic pull over an actual Spider-man book? No? Then why does Marvel think Doc Ock in Peter's body will actually be a good idea?

Even IF this somehow gets fans, the majority will still hate it, and then those fans that did like the story will be upset when it inevitably gets retconned or made void when Peter returns. Nobody is happy. Old fans miss out on the hero they want to read about and any new fans will get betrayed when Marvel reverses the decision.

Yeh i like Doc Ock, but i like lots of spidey villains, per say...

But not enough to read and pay for a series of like Mysterio inside of Wolverine or something. Just not the kind of thing a solid new series is founded on.

I'd rather read a whole new book or something about a whole new hero or villain than a series about Captain America stuck inside of Vulture trying to be a bad guy in his honor.
"Superior New Day" is temporary: but maybe Juggernaut can be the new She-Hulk! And Skeletor can be Battle Cat. Darth Vader can be Princess Leia in the new Superior Star Wars! Unleash the Whacken!

Yes. I won't buy Superior. Peter Parker is Spider-Man and until he's back I will have to boycott.

I don't like how it's gone as of ASM 700, I can't accept Doc Ock as Spidey. I don't appreciate the possibilities and potential connected with Ock being Spidey, and in particular I'm upset by the potential as implied in ASM 700 of Ock getting amorous with MJ. I accept that it's entirely likely that this subtext will be averted (although that cover of Superior with the kiss remains a problem) but as others have said the implication already shown has left it's mark..

I've tangled over the issue regarding MJ with Mr Slott and Mr Wacker, it has been a bit bad tempered, I will try to give them the benefit of the doubt in the long run, but coming from the position of already being upset about MJ following OMD and OMIT I'm not convinced still that Dan and Steve don't harbour ill will when it comes to MJ, let alone Peter to a certain degree...

Only time will tell. I will keep tabs on what happens, but I feel I must use the power (efective or not) of withdrawing my money as a form of protest......

This new superior spidey comic is sorta more like a "Thunderbolt Spider-Man" in some ways....

Norman Osborn only got inside Tony Stark's iron-man suit.

Doc Ock has one upped him, and actually got all the way inside of Pete.

We had the Skull Invasion summer event just a while back...with Doc's new technology we could have all the marvel heroes invaded by villains!

So far every preview including all of Avenging Spider-Man 15.1 has encouraged me not to get this book. I honestly don't see the need for a new darker and Spider-Man. Particularly when we have Scarlet Spider and Venom who already fill that role. Peter's personality is part of what made him different from other heroes who's origins began in tragedies. by making him more like Batman he becomes less interesting. anti-heoes in the marvel universe are a dime a dozen. If i were to make a comparison to another way it'd be like if Lexluthor switched minds with Superman killed him and married Lois lane. I hope this change isn't permanent Then again I hoped One More Day wasn't permanent.

He wasn't the first to write him, and won't be the last. He should just do his stories with Spider-Man and then hand him to the next one, the only mark that should be left was he did good stories while he wrote him.
while i do have version of characters that i feel are defining versions by specific writers - in general i agree with this

i do rather irritated when a writer (with any long standing character in almost any medium) decides to do their version, it just feels like they don't really know what they are writing about

im sure many will disagree but i have had too many versions of some characters to have any real connection to them and so just dont bother looking at the books any more

legacy characters (more of a dc thing i feel) are a little different - at least thats a different person not just different personality

as far as the new spider-man book goes - if its not peter its not spider-man, have a different book with the new character - i would love the idea of green goblin or octavius having their own books (maybe a maxi series) - just look at how venom developed from being a villain

so no - i wont be buying superior - its not a spider-man book as far as im concerned

I am buying it because it is about Peter Parker.

It is about what happens to his body and the abilities his body has being controlled by another mind

It is about the people he loves and villians that he has dedicated his life, to stop.

It is about watching the reaction from people like Mary Jane and J Jonah Jameson and
Captain America and Wolverine and Norman Osborn and King Pin and all the
other people in the Marvel Universe and what there reaction is to the changes in
"Peter Parker" and /or Spider-Man and (if they notice it) how the deal with it.

And then it is about Peter Parker and when he first shows up and and the journey he
must take to return to his body and his life.

Maybe if I believed the plan is to keep Peter Parker dead and have Spock be the Superior Spider-Man for
the foreseeable future (with no plans for Peter's return) I could skip on Superior Spider-Man.

You've definitely got the right take on it, I think. Of course, it is *also* about Otto, and whether or not the strengths of who Peter Parker was and is can lead Otto into overcoming his own nature. Can Peter Parker *truly* change someone like Otto?

Combine these two and I think we're in a for a wild and fascinating ride.

No way would I jump off now, because it’s such an interesting and engaging story. I’m not even letting my least favorite gimmick of all(the whole re-numbering thing) get me down too much because I see it as more of a driving force for this story line than a marketing ploy, though obviously it’s a little of both. My biggest worry is that they try to keep this thing going for as long as some people are suggesting it might. Right now I’m into it, but if this story line is going to last 20 issues or more; it had better be a damn good story. So far so good. jmo

I jumped off because I don't like Ryan Stegman's art. The moment someone else (Ramos, Caselli) is back in the rotation I'm back in...
