I'll play it by ear Depending on how Superior Spider-man is
Just noticed this will be my 700th post. So I decided to take this opportunity to say that just as my 700th post won't be my last, Amazing Spider-Man #700 won't be my last Spider-Man comic![]()
Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

The only way I'd stop is if a Peter Parker who is now doc oc from a brain down load hooks up w Mary Jane, mj and octavius? He goes from trying to marry aunt may then possessing spiders body to hook up with his girl?! Messed up
At $4 an issue, every issue is a potential jumping off point. If I don't like where its heading, see ya around
A good point above, it is we as readers that are thrown off Amazing Spider-Man. And we must decide whether we want to read about another person under the Spider-Man mask (or Doc Ock in Peters body, which doesn't sound that appealing). And without knowing what happens of course, but how is that rewarding the long time fans? Are we not wanted anymore?
I have a slightly different perspective. (I do consider myself a long-term fan.) I feel like I'm being rewarded with a new story. If the hype is to be believed, it will be a story like we have never seen before. I consider that a great thing and I'm really excited for it.
As far as being "thrown off" goes, I think that wording is a bit odd. I assume you've been reading comics for a good bit, so do you remember when Age of Apocalypse came out in the 90's? There was an ad in all the X-Men books saying that all their titles would be cancelled. (No X-Mas was the way they phrased it, being right before Christmas.) They explained how Wolverine would become Weapon X, Uncanny X-Men would become Astonishing X-Men, and so on. This wasn't meant to alienate long-term fans. It was meant to provide everyone (old and new fans) with an exciting new story. That's how I view this Superior Spider-Man thing. Give it a shot. I imagine it will be pretty cool.

Actually, I was just reading the Marvel Comics published in Sweden those days, and we never got Age of Apocalypse. But I mean,at least there was the same persons, and "cancelling" and restarting a comic wasn't as usual as it is now. I want more information before giving Superior a shot, from what I gather now I won't. Maybe if and when I get to know more and that convinces me. But I do find that Spider-Man is nothing without Peter Parker. It has always been a huuuuge part of the comic. And I have a very hard time to see how we as readers are being "rewarded" with this. Just like we were rewarded with that awful Alpha story?

I think it would be kinda stupid to have Doc going into Peter's body. if your going to put Peter to bed for a little while (God knows why you would think you need to) at least give him a good sendoff like he needs to rethink things or just doesn't feel he has anymore to give. It makes more sense and shows the human side of a character that has had so many things in his life go wrong to finally say I have had enough.
I'm patiently going to wait for some months and see in what direction this superior spider-man (what a silly name) is going thanks to your opinions and reviews guys.
Wait & see, wait & see.
I just keep wondering. If people want a Spidey who's dark, weird and not Peter Parker, why not just pick up Scarlet Spider? I really recommend that title.
They must think we do, since that is what we're geting with Superior Spider-Man!
Well, the fact that they are starting with a Superior Spider-Man says quite a lot, doesn't it? But I have said I will try out #698 and see where I take it from there. But judging from what I know now? Not very keen on a Spidey that's not Peter Parker, though. And frankly, why should I???
