THE NEW AVENGERS ARE NOT A FN STREET LEVEL TEAM!

The role of Sorcerer Supreme passed to Brother Voodoo but he died, leaving no one in the role. Voodoo's brother is currently getting his revenge by attacking Strange and the Avengers. This story arc will end with someone being designated as Sorcerer Supreme again. Could be Strange, could be Brother Voodoo brought back from the dead, could be someone else entirely. Lots of speculation is leaning towards Strange regaining the title since Bendis appears to be hitting a big reset button on all of the characters he broke during his run on New Avengers. Be nice, but I'll only believe it when I see it.
What i meant is, that if the Eye doesn't decide who the Supreme is, then why isn't Strange still technically the supreme

He doesn't want the title, or he doesn't think he's worthy of it, or the Vishanti really are gone so there's no one to sponsor the title.

Being Sorcerer Supreme is like having an endowed chair -- your magical budget goes way up.

So then there is a reason for strange being less powerful, i herd some one say the Vishanti being gone shouldn't mater

The Eye and Orb of Agamatto and the Book of the Vishanti are all tools of the Sorcerer Supreme if not exactly badges of office.

There was nothing stopping Doc from reclaiming the book and the Orb after Jericho's death except the fact that he deems himself
    unworthy to be SS.

And if the Vishanti are dead, not so sure the book would even work now.

Then strange is more or less still acting as SS with out actually calling him self such

He's still master of the mystic arts, which he's always interpreted as a commission to protect the world from magical threats. But there are other masters of the mystic arts who don't see things that way. Only the 'Sorcerer Supreme' has that explicitly in the job description, with a corresponding power boost.

As far as I know he hasn't taken back the artifacts that he gave Jericho. The Eye was destroyed, but the Cloak of Levitation still exists somewhere, as does the Book of the Vishanti, the Orb of Agamotto, the Wand and Scrolls of Watoomb, etc.

Truthfully even when Strange wasn't the Sorcerer Supreme, I think Strange was pretty much universally considered da man. Everyone else almost kind of seemed like place holders.

Aside from getting some of his toys back, I honestly don't think we'd even really be able to tell the difference if Strange got the title back, or if he never lost it. Yeah, to some degree there's a power level issue but I think even when he was SS he was often written below his full potential for practical storytelling reasons.
