DC seems to really be pushing Constantine. Is wager that he has the most appearances in DC new 52 books, after The Justice Leaguers and Robin
Hawkeye, X-Men Legacy, FF, New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Animal Man, Wonder Woman, Manhattan Projects, Fatale, East of West, Bedlam, Saga, Bandette

The last time I bought Hellblazer was sometime after Garth Ennis finished his run on the title. (Then I sort of quit comic books completely in 1995.)

If they're starting him over again as part of the DCnU, I may have to give him a new look, especially since the JL Dark tpb has gotten me curious about his character again. (I also have to sit down and maybe re-read my old issues of Hellblazer.)

Why does DC hate marriage? Another married character is rebooted and a long running series is consigned to the back issue bins. I shall miss reading a quality title written for adults.

And now he has a new one.

Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.

Well, can I say told you? I even freaking called this book Constantine! I must be like a physic or something. OR just lucky. Either way, I feel sorry for those Hellblazer fans. I never got the chance to read Hellblazer. I was thinking of starting to pick it up after issue #297 or so, but since it's ending.... :/ No matter, I'm pretty excited about this. It doesn't have to be all kid-friendly guys. Look at I, Vampire. That violence, that language, the nudity in the book is amazingly not been tampered with (Then again, they do cover it up in a way) so Constantine could still go very dark.

hahahaha I guess I should have expected this response from at least one poster. Classic.

That said, I will miss the continuing story of the older Constantine with his weird, borderline creepy marriage and marked up face. The idea of a younger, PG-13 rated John Constantine with all the limitations that entails does not really interest me the same way.

And on a side-note: If DC really is "pushing" the character, I wish they would start pushing the correct pronunciation of the character's name, Constantine. Even the freaking movie got it wrong, which is disgraceful.

Eh? What is the correct pronunciation? I've always 'said' it the same as I might the historical figure.

Ryming with Line instead of teen.

    Constantain when written quasi phonetically.
...And does Mr. Goddanm Batman says so much as ''Thanks''? OF COURSE not. That'd hardly be GRIM AND GRITTY, would it?

    It's "Tyne", not "Teen".

The character himself tells us this in the early comics. How DC let things spiral so out of control to the point it is now, I have no idea. Most people now assume as you did. And the movie certainly didn't help.

    From the article:
""He's going to be the same age that he is in Justice League Dark and the same character that people know and recognize," Venditti told the Associated Press. "The drinking and smoking, the con man aspect of him — that's going to be very much part of the series.""

I find this really hard to believe since I don't recognize the new Constantine-lite that we've been getting.
Since this whole new 52 started, DC has made more dumbass moves than positive ones. I'm sure this will fall into the former.

JLD was released and it was pretty subpar until Lemire, but I was still enjoying Constantine's bits, but after that zero issues, I NEED a mainstream Hellblazer/Constantine series. I lament the death of such a long running imprint series, but it's opening up the doors for so many people like myself. I just wished it would be called John Constantine: Hellblazer to pay respect to the wonderful series that came before.
This is pretty much where I'm at too.
With the added bonus that now I can look forward to buying the complete Hellblazer series when it's inevitably rereleased in deluxe editions.

Anyone think this may also have something to do with the rumored film?

I mean if some Mom wants to take her teen son to a comic book movie and he tells her its called Hellblazer she may reconsider.
Action Comics, Animal Man, Batman Inc, Constantine, Earth 2, Flash, Green Arrow, Justice League, Justice League Dark,JLA, Saga, Stormwatch, Swamp Thing, Supergirl, Superman & Uncanny Avengers

Well that last Constantine movie was called Constantine (not Hellblazer), so I'm not sure that's really a factor.
