    Default Avengers #33 *Spoilers*

Bendis has not revealed what the powers of Lord Gouzar are, even in this issue. Mysteriously, Gouzar can take down all the Avengers so though they are just power blasts from their weapons, the Avengers get knocked out. There is something funny going on in this place, when Cap deflecting a blast with his shield (specifically made to repulse power blasts) is struck, Cap is sent hurtling through 3 smoke stacks and lands unconscious. Thor gets blown unconscious too. Tony Stark's armor misbehaves so he loses power after one use and is just a walking tin suit. Hank Pym thinks he can Giant out and smash all the flying air ships, but Janet tells Hank it doesn't work like that here. Giant man collapses and all the Avengers are prisoners.

    spoilers:
It starts with Quake making an entrance in Avengers Tower and told the emergency is the big 5 have gone to another dimension and they should wait. Rulk and Vision are on guard duty in Central Park. Lord Goudar attacks the Avengers and Thor has words with him, so Goudar says, "kill Thor first". Well, now it's on, and but it's not on long. The Avengers are in a cell, even Janet, who has consistently stayed one step ahead of Goudar, but she's so glad to see the Avengers she wants to be with them. Janet tells the Avengers she started shrinking when Thor started to use his vortex on her in the Skrull war. She inadvertently shrinks down too far and here she is. But where is the Skrull poison she had? Too many mysteries with this story
    end of spoilers

I never heard Wasp refer to Thor as cutie. It almost sounded disrespectful.

Need to read some Silver Age Wasp appearances. Honestly, every new male character that was introduced, she had to comment on how cute they were. Sure it's part of what drove Hank to madness and Yellowjacket, now that I think on it.

From what I've seen, the BBEG reminds me of some micronaut toys from when I was a kid.

I recall as a kid reading a back up feature in one of the Avengers annuals where She-Hulk and Wasp rated how hot all the male Avengers were. I think Thors the only one that got a perfect score. 10-10. One of them (I forget which) I think even called him god hunk of Thunder or something.

Honestly, I miss marvel putting stuff like that in their annuals.

He is an evil version of Force Commander Oberon from the Micronauts toys and Comics.

I think I remember seeing pic of Micronaut big bad Baron Karza with a Centaur form too.

Yeah, he gave me a Baron Karza vibe. I was half expecting him to fire his hand at Jan's throat.

What kind of ray guns were those dudes using?

    Thor was knocked clean out...

Honestly, I do wonder if Jan does have a place in the Marvel NOW status quo of things after this arc is finished.

I'm sure she'll be on the Avengers book. Hickman said there were more additions to the team.

This arc, while I'm happy Jan's back, is not so amazing. It's okay but I guess I was hoping for something a little more...more?

I'm more enjoying the wrap up over in New Avengers. Maria's constant need to express her authority is full amusing.
Freedom is the ability to live without fear of persecution. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

I think Jan deserves a Vacation
I'm so bored with this martyrdom routine, this halo all you X-men love to polish. Self-described soldiers adorned in an "X" with no dedication to what it actually stands for.

speaking of things that Bendis hasn't resolved...

    http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=34928
The new Zodiac will be a very mysterious group of characters when "Avengers Assemble" begins. The only thing that will be immediately clear about the group is that they threaten the entire world.
"I wanted to take the Zodiac concept and scrape some of the cheese off of it to get to the scary part, like how we did with the Skrulls in 'Secret Invasion.' So what we have now is a story line specific to these characters. Captain America puts this group together specifically to deal with the Zodiac," Bendis said. "I don't want to give too much away because what they want is going to be a reveal. What they want and who the Zodiac really are is going to be interesting. Who they really are is a mix of familiar faces, some surprising faces, and a couple of new faces."

did we ever find out the identities of the Zodiac team members?
