I had absolutely no intention of buying this series; after dropping Way's run after issue 33 I was dead-set on avoiding all things Deadpool.
My LCS guy recommended it so I picked it up. Long story short, I'm enjoying Deadpool again.
R.I.P. Don't pee in the (Dead)pool, November 2007 - January 2013
Check out the preview for #2: http://www.deadpoolbugle.com/2012/11...#disqus_thread
I've never read Deadpool but gave #1 and #2 a shot because I found the character interesting enough to catch my attention in the past and obviously #1 is a good starting point.
I won't be continuing with Deadpool though. The art is great, I really love it but the characterisation and the general story are shocking. It feels almost like Deadpool is a 10-year-old school boy who has just figured out what a one-liner is. It's all a bit much and I just don't care for the character one bit. He's not funny, he's not intriguing, he has no depths.
The story of a bunch of presidents being reanimated is just straight up ridiculous, it seems like something that that same 10-year-old school boy could come up with in his sleep.
I just wish Moore's art was on a book I enjoy. That's the only thing I'm disappointed that I'm going to be missing out on.
The jokes and silliness were worst with Daniel Way's run. And they weren't very funny. But the jokes are all a mask for his crippling depression and broken psyche. It's something I hope they go in to, like Joe Kelly explored when he was working with the character. Give it a shot. This is looking to be something close to Joe Kelly's run, which was awesome.

Those 2 first were really a great read. Best Deadpool we got in years.
If this is in fact the "best Deadpool in years" then I definitely can't go on with this.
Don't forget Uncanny X-Force! Remender's done a stellar job with Deadpool.
That's too bad, but understandable. Deadpool isn't for everyone. The comic and character break rules and pokes fun of tropes and comic conventions while sometimes falling into the very traps that it makes fun of. His humor is often sophomoric and crass, but that's part of his charm. It's definitely fair to say that he's stuck in a state of arrested development, but I promise there's supposed to be depth to the character. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see this often enough in the last solo title run. If you get the chance, read Kelly's run. He did a great job of balancing sophomoric humor and pathos. So far, the new team has managed to capture the irreverent and gallows humor I adore. I just hope they don't ignore Deadpool's darker, serious side.
