Purely speculation, but the public statement sounds much more...articulate than his video testimonial. So I'm guessing it was written by his press agent.

I feel really sorry for the kid. His mom's mind seemed to jump to the financial implications quickly. She's worried he's been brainwashed by this controversial church and they want his money. A valid concern, but the big one would be the BRAINWASHING part. You can live without the money, but a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I don't think this church has his best interests at heart, because they basically threw him to the wolves for their own purposes (whether that was money or promoting their ministry).

Which is sad, because it's a great thing when you find a church (or other religious institution) where the congregation looks out for you and your family.

Married with Children went on way too long. Also I Dream Of Jeannie. Bewitched is another good one. All downhill after the original husband left - they even recreated the original shows with the new husband.

    Greatest bunch of villains EVER.
Especially when compared to the crap Disney has now.

Power Rangers has stuck around too long if you ask me, only for the fact that I'm stunned it's still on TV when I find it in the cable guide.
Eh, Comics is a pretty cool guy...

20 years...they actually had all 20 of the Red Rangers at the Macys parade

and honestly, it's actually a pretty diverse cast...sad to say that a schlock fest like Power Rangers has more diversity than most network shows that could use it

I don't think it's stuck around too long, for the simple reason that its audience changes every few years. I never really got into the show, as I was old enough to see it as a cheap variation on Voltron.

But my kids enjoy it (some takes more than others).

Yeah, I'm a tad more forgiving about Power Rangers because they manage to freshen things up every couple of years, basically every time they have to appeal to a new gen of youngsters.

It's kind of the same dynamic that comics originally had, because it was just assumed that you lost your old audience when they turned twelve. So no one's going to care if you start from scratch every few years. No one going, "But wait! Power Rangers Dinosaurs contradicts something that was said in Power Rangers Samurai!"

    Haha, yeah.

From the little knowledge I have of the overall greater Power Rangers universe I've heard they've done a halfass decent job of having some shred of continuity though.

Japan did it better though. Sooo many Red Rangers. I believe one of the reasons you still have Power Rangers is because the Sentai stuff is still going on in Japan. If that were to end then so would Power Rangers here

I can't really see how that's possible, it's a show for little kids that resets ever few years...and kids apparently still like it.

I'm always kind of surprised they never tried doing more Power Ranger type shows here...at least in line with older stuff like the Gatchaman cartoons & Voltron. It always seemed like the other Power Ranger type shows were much smaller in scale, and in the case of something like Big Bad Beetleborgs, it just makes you wonder what the hell the people at Saban were thinking. For some reason they never seemed to try and do something like Samurai Pizza Cats again either.

    Went away too soon?

    Dollhouse
    Deadwood
    The Fades

All three of these shows were ended before they had told their stories. There wasn't a climax and too many threads left unresolved.

Lost overstayed its welcome and I felt that half way through season 2.
