Officially GI JOE and Thundercats are on "hiatus"; but they are both really canceled shows GI JOE: Renegades got pulled to be "retooled" to be more like the then in the works sequel which it already was like and then the new movie got pushed back from July to March of 2013 so they are holding off on bringing it back.

Thundercats well as Legato has already mentioned the toys didn't sell well because the distribution on them was horrible and not to mention they were made by probably the worst of the mainstream toy companies Bandai America, which is far inferior to it's Japanese counterpart. And of course it was on Cartoon Network which cannot figure how to handle an action series to save it's life; don't believe me just look at how they handled the 4Kids Ninja Turtles, the 2k3 He-Man, Transformers: Animated, Justice League/Unlimited and the way they are currently handling Green Lantern and Young Justice. Even the recent Scooby-Doo series got the bum's rush from Cartoon Network if it's not a comedy or on Adult Swim then an action series is doomed.

All of the recent Marvel cartoons Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes all ended way too soon.

Law & Order is one of those shows that both should have ended a long time ago and could have gone on a lot longer it was all about the casting and the writing and the sad thing is the last two seasons had the best cast and episodes of series in a very long time.

CSI is another series that should have ended after William Peterson left, but the recent season with Ted Danson as the lead character has been very good, but I still feel as though it's time for the series to end.

NCIS is a show that I love but I think it's running out of steam and the sad thing is they already had the perfect ending episode back during Season 3 and I can't see how they'd end the series especially Gibb's story arc better than the ending they gave him in the Season 3 finale.
Life's too short and you never know when the end will be so enjoy it while you can.

shows that overstayed their welcome, or ended too soon?

every american television show in the last 20 years? maybe just ten, but we either cancel it too soon, or run it right into the ground.

The live-action Tick didn't need time, it was bad right from the start and showed zero promise, it was just a bad show.

    Shows that ended too soon:

Cartoon Network has ended a number of shows prematurely that were great shows and should have gotten more seasons including Sym-Bionic Titan, He-Man, and Megas XLR. CN is as bad at dropping quality shows as Fox.

Spectacular Spider-Man ended prematurely, but that was due to bad timing (Disney buying Marvel) than bad programming decisions. It was simply unrealistic that the same crew would go from one company to another. It sucks, but what can you do?

Firefly is the ultimate of “ended way too soon” shows, but at least we got a conclusion of the Tam family story saga with “Serenity”.

Crusade is another show that I wish got more episodes because I love the Babylon 5 universe. It was just finding its stride when the ax came down.

Shows that have overstayed their welcome:

How I Met Your Mother: I actually feel sorry for the mother and her kids, because I now officially know too much information about Ted. Spoiler alert: he’s a whiny douche who is in love with the sound of his voice.

NCIS: when director Shepard died, the show went adrift. It’s just been coasting on life support ever since.

Leverage: I'll give this to the writers, they actually let the audience know that they ran out of ideas and are just re-treading old stories by having the characters themselves comment that they are repeating missions. Thanks, it means I can move on without feeling guilty.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: the first half of season three was NPR radio programming instead of an action series. Congradulations guys, you managed to give us worse writing than the "Attack of the Clones" love story. George Lucas thanks you for our service.

And now for the shows that tanked badly in the second season after a highly entertaining first season:

Lost – The writers promised answers and gave us nothing but more questions. The writers actually thought audiences wouldn’t notice. I never looked back.

Heroes – The illegal alien storyline was elitist liberal fantasy. It wasn’t just crap, it was sophomoric crap. If that weren’t bad enough, Tim Kring then forgot everything that happened in the first season. WTF dude, is it really that hard to remember what you wrote the year before?

And you see why I dont watch the show anymore. Not even Neil Patrick Harris could keep me interested in a show thats dragging it's main concept at a snails pace.

Still liked Clone Wars better than say the film version, least this version of Anakin isn't whiney and is more believable as a hero than the films try to portray him as. Also I liked the focused episodes on Ventress. The series showed me that the prequels can be decent if George didn't dictate over it. To be fair concerning the prequels the novel versions are better

Anyone remember a show called "Tucker" from around 2001? It had Seth Green in it as one of the main characters and Katie Sagal(Sons of Anarchy) as well. I remember watching this show with my first serious girlfriend. I think it ended too soon.

They had the gun up until at least season 5. I honestly can't remember them ever using it again after that besides the episode where they go back in time and use it to kill a Phoenix.

Absolutely, John Glover was excellent in it.

Yeah, that show ended way to soon. I remember seeing that for the first time one night at a friends house after some party, it was great. I can't believe no other network picked that show up; I remember seeing stuff about some live-action tv show a year or two later that looked like a crappy version of Korgoth of Barbaria...seems it was called Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.

Goes to show that, outside of anime, Venture Brothers and Robot Chicken is the only good things coming out of Adult Swim now. Then again I've been hearing some mixed reviews concerning Black Dynamite

Yeah, I left after last season when I realized I was pretty much fast forwarding past all the Ted parts.

I agree that usually Clone Wars is much better than the movies. However, the first half of season 3 was excrutiatingly painful. Padme has actually replaced Jar Jar as my least favorite prequel character. I actually had to institute a rule that I will not watch the episode if Padme has a major role in it to make it to the second half of season 3 where thankfully the show improved a little. The show still couldn't really bring me back though because thanks to Padme, I actually am thankful that Palpatine and Anakin destroy the Republic.

    Wait, is that a spoiler?
