Default The Amazing Spiderman Newspaper Strips

    Hey Guys,

I am a massive Spidey fan and one of the things that I enjoy the most is reading his daily newspaper strip! Some people thing that these are dull compared to the comic books but personally I think they're great - I find them more realistic than the commic books and give us a better insight into the life of Peter Parker rather than Spiderman.

I first started collecting these when I was kid in the 90's and my collection runs from 1998-2000, 2012-present. My collection stops when they newspaper they where in stopped printing it and I never realised you could get them anywhere else until I discovered that they where still being made and the more recent ones where being published daily on the internet. I was wondering if anybody out would be able to tell me if there is anywhere where I can get my hands on the older newspaper panels from the 1990's and 2000's so that I can try and fill holes in my collection and maybe even expand it? If anybody has any from around that era and is thinking of selling their collection or would be willing to scan them in to share, please let me know!

I don't even know where I could find today's strip (sure, I could do Comic Shop News, but sadly, not all comic shops pick them up, such as the ones I go to regularly).

The first three years (Jan. 1977 - Jan. 1980) written by Stan Lee and drawn by John Romita are available in two books.
Search Amazon for "Spider-Man Newspaper Strips - Volume 1" and "Volume 2".
    Good stuff!

i wish we could get more of those comic strip collections and then the other strips into it where Spidey guest starred in them, when they did those mixed up comic strip days.

I used to collect them but Canada never gets the strip anymore, the Toronto Star used to have it decades ago :(

So I just read them online now.

But, MARVEL RELEASE MORE FASTERRRRR IN COLLECTED FORM!

My collection of spidey comics won't be complete without them :(

I have never seen these strips in newspapers here in Norway, but this got me intrigued, so I went to the King Features site, and found a few strips there.
Could you tell me more about these strips; have they been made recently, or are they old strips being re-printed? They kind of remind me of the Amazing Spider-Man comic from the 70ies in their appearance. Who writes these strips, and who is the artist? If the strips are new, do they have anything to do with the comicbook-version of Spider-Man, or could this be somewhat regarded as an alternative universe?
If my words and grammar are not correct, that's because English is not my native language! My English would have been far worse if I hadn't read original comics for decades though!

They started in 1977 and are still going today, they are not reprints of the comic books and have their own continuity of sorts.

The best place to read them now is probably the website for the Houston Chronicle or Tulsa World which both have a month worth at a time.

I would be surprised if you can find the old ones anywhere, King Features which is the company that distributes the strip have become near totalitarian about the strip. They forced everyone who had an archive to take any down last year like the Spider-Man Crawlspace, MeekRat, Comics Curmudgeon, etc. They only even allow the newspaper websites themselves to archive 30 days back.

Why? Not a clue...there hasn't been a newspaper strip collection released that collects any of the strips past freaking 1980. So why they don't want anyone to be allowed to have any older strips?

Honestly the only chance you probably currently have of getting access to any of the older ones now is E-Bay and other such sites where people actually do occasionally sell home made collections of them.

On a slightly different but related note...how many people would like to see Slott do his take on newly invented Stan Lee villain from last month Clown-9?

You could probably do a web search for a Spider-Man newspaper comic archive...I'm sure there must be something out there somewhere.
