I like stillanerd's theory, but I agree with what you're saying. If they kill Aunt May, then Peter would move on as some kind of killer for a bit and i just don't see that happening. Aunt May has a serious injury as of now anyway, it would be much more beneficial to kill off May's husband forcing Peter to care for May more directly.

Support titles that need supporting. Quit buying, reading and complaining about comics you don't enjoy.

So save that single mom crap, if you really want to look at it that way she did a crap job, the kid was always sneaking out at night, lying, and coming home with bruises.

    She is no hero.
The quoted post is just plain Stupid. a) Where did you read he had a life insurance policy? b) May never had any government support, plus in any time you would like to place Pete's childhood cell phones either didn't existed or weren't as affordable as now. Seems like you started reading Spidey with big time, or you're just neglecting the canon story of Spider-Man where SEVERAL stories were about how hard was it for May and Peter to come up with enough money after Ben died. Heck, it we went by your logic Peter would never have worked at the Bugle, because thanks to the government he wouldn't had to go get a job, so no JJJ, Betty, Robbie, Ned Stacy, Lance Bannon, Ben Urich, Phil Urich, no accusations of Spidey being a menace, which would compromise almost 90% of Spidey's stories.

c)True, but he had to learn that from someone, and I would place it 50% May 50% Ben.

And on your final point, while I don't agree with Dan sending the dogs after you with the single mom thing I don't remember all that many stories where Pete was actually bruised, sure he got hit but his face almost never showed it. That was one of the things that actually made me dislike the newest movie, where May sees Pete all f'ed up and does nothing about it.

Kill off May's husband? And return the Aunt May/Peter relationship to where it has been for 48 of the past 50 years? Yeah, I don't see that being all that useful, especially when JJJ Sr still has plenty of story to tell....

If there is to be a big death in this story, I happen to think it will be Mayor JJJ himself; he is one character than has not been "killed" before and if he does so in a final redemptive act (perhaps saving Spidey himself) that area can be mined for some good drama. As it is, he seems to be reconciling with Spidey a bit as it is; I think having the Mayor of NYC sacrifice himself in a big battle for NYC itself (presumably against Ock's octobots) and saving Spidey in the process could be pretty big.

Stegman has already shown preview art for Superior Spidey with JJJ in it.

Okay I was mostly joking about A and B. However she could have gotten a job just like the rest of America has to do, this was the 60s, not every job had been outsourced yet).Instead Pete got the job as a freelance photographer to pay the bills. So technically HE is the hero here. She just lived off of his hard work.

Joking aside, did May have a job ever? Before Peter came I mean? was she at the postal service for 40 years? Any back story on that?

you know, i'd really like to know the thought process behind the decision to "Replace" Peter Parker as Spider man- what Marvel is trying to accomplish by doing this.

my guess would be to tell a compelling story a writer had along with get sales to spike for a gimmick. Same reason they killed Cap, had the civil war, create new characters.

Has he? I remember a monument or building with Marla's name on it, but not much else.

With the title "Hero or Menace?" I'm sure JJJ will be a big factor.

He could be resurrected by then.

Marvel has been notoriously wily about what they are putting out in previews----some can be red herrings and misdirection. Any art with JJJ in it could easily be flashbacks.

As far as the fallout from #700 goes, my opinion is no one is safe.
