So did Marvel tell the interviewer spoilers:
"Miguel tweet" or anything even in the ball-park about Spiderman 2099"
end of spoilers? Or did he/she totally drop the ball by not asking Slott the question? Not that he would have answered anyway, but it's still a valid question that should have been asked. Otherwise, I don't know if I agree that Doc Ock is #2 behind GG in Spidey villains (but Slott makes some good points), but if so, I can't believe they would really kill him off for good, because now you've taken Spider-man's top two enemies off the table. I'd be much more interested in buying Spiderman #700 if the hype was just about a great, mind-blowing story and not "someone else behind the mask at the end!", because we know Peter will be back (hey, he's got a second movie to do) and "we kill off a major villian! again!" because no way you'd get rid of a great character like Doc Ock.

they got rid of him already they just brought him back after like 20 issues and they always kill off major characters to sell a book nowadays but you can bet as surely as the sun rises they'll come back sooner or later hell I don't even think of death in the marvel u as death it's just a vacation for the character

Peter is probably going to have to fake his death or go underground or something, and reinvent himself. But you know there have been lots of different theories out there, right now I just want this story to be over and the surprise to be removed and lifted.

Nothing about this article eased my apprehension. In fact, it sounds like we should just get used to a new Spider-Man.

Interesting--I had stayed away from the 'Did Dan spoil Superior on Twitter?' thread, but it makes sense they spoilers:
may try to bring Miguel into the 616. The current Tyler Stone having a similar name to 2099's Tiberious Stone in ASM can't be a coincidence.
    end of spoilers

Slott made this sound even better than I had originally thought. Can't wait.

    spoilers:
Miguel has been my guess since the Spider-Man panel at NYCC this year. Some young kid asked Wacker if they were going to make more Spider-Man 2099 comics and he said "yes, for you". I never really cared for any of the 2099 characters but I am giving Dan Slott a fair chance. I think he has earned it by now.
end of spoilers I pre-ordered the first two issues but wont commit to anything past that.

I may be forced to eat my words in a few months, but to me this suggests:

The thing that really helped me staying was that you can see all the puzzle pieces. There are many bread crumbs and clues leading you down this path. This is not something where someone RECENTLY asked, "Okay we're going to change everything up for Marvel NOW!, what change up are you doing?" No, this has ALWAYS been building to this. And the nice thing is-- that it's such a sea change. I've always been building towards it, and it's as drastic as anything that we're doing in Marvel NOW!
    that it can't be spoilers:
    Miguel.
end of spoilers It has to be someone who has been in motion since Big Time, possibly BND.

    Either way, I'm excited

I'm just gonna go ahead and guess Phil Urich. I doubt I'm the first.

I've avoided this forum since I saw the headline about Slott spoiling spider-man on twitter. Was that true? do I need to stay away from spidey forums a bit longer? I've feel nervous just being here, and felt nervous enough when I came through once once between now and than

I'm thinking with that comment by Slott it's something that's been in motion since the start of Big Time moreso than Brand New Day. Brand New Day, after all, was a collaborative effort by various writers to get to a particular status quo for Peter Parker and the rest of his supporting cast and villains to be in. Everything in Amazing Spider-Man since Big Time, however, is all Dan Slott as is Superior Spider-Man, so it makes sense that the road to Superior Spider-Man started with "Big Time" in that regard. And if that's the case, and couple with how cryptic Slott is being in what actually happens to Peter Parker in ASM #700, that leads me to lean towards one of these two outcomes:

    a. Phil Urich, taking to opportunity of Spider-Man's disappearance, essentially steals Spidey's identity--just like he did with the Green Goblin and the Hobgobli--with his own hidden agenda. Sort of like the original concept for the Thunderbolts in which the Masters of Evil, taking advantage of the Avengers and Fantastic Four's disappearance after Onslaught, disguised themselves as superheroes in order to better carry out Baron Zemo's nefarious schemes.

    b. Peter Parker is forced to fake his own death in order to continue being Spider-Man, as all the safeguards he's been putting into place in order to preserve his secret identity such as Dr. Strange's psychic blindspot spell, are starting to unravel and thus put those he cares about in danger yet again. Especially if Doc Ock figuring out Peter is Spidey also leads to someone close to Peter getting killed, particularly Aunt May.

Yeah, he's certainly one of my top contenders at this point.

I am generally an x-men fan, so maybe I shouldn't post here, but personally I like the idea of new spider-man, and I might pick up this series. What I'm trying to say is, have some faith and wait. Simply wait.

We don't know if it was a true mistake or if he was just teasing. But there was a twitter comment. It's also been referred to in this thread as well so I'd be careful in here if you're trying to avoid possible spoilers.
