Why are you trying to make my head explode?

Superman's my favourite character, so maybe Action? Smallville is surprisingly good. Superman Family Adventures is adorable. I liked Lobdells first issue of Superman (though I wasn't one of those that didn't like Perez then Jurgens before this, but they wouldn't be in the running for favourite), but 1 issue's not enough to go on Justice League is mostly eye candy. Outside of Superman...well, not counting Vertigo trades, Animal Man, Swamp Thing and Demon Knoghts come to mind. I would add Frankenstein if it hadn't been cancelled. The JLDark annual was very nice. Wonder Woman's cool. Batwoman's pretty.

Maybe I'll get back to you on this...
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...

    Batman, Incorporated, for me.

After that, I like Action, Batman, Wonder Woman, Nightwing, and Batwoman.

After those, things like Flash, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, Animal Man, Batman and Robin, Demon Knights, All-Star Western, and Aquaman are working reasonably well for me.

    Currently:
    Honorable Mention:
    Batman Inc
    Stormwatch
    Animal Man
    Swamp Thing
    Wonder Woman
    Batman

Honestly, I look forward to Justice League the most each month. Not sure why, it's not the best comic I'm reading but it has me hooked.

My favorite is Action Comics. Every month I can't wait to read the next issue. It's a fun, complex and epic book. Some honorable mentions: Batman, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, All-Star Western and Flash. I also really like The Dark Knight now that Hurwitz has taken over writing the book.

DC: Flash (closely followed by Animal Man, Justice League Dark, Earth 2, Sweet Tooth, The Unwritten, Legends of the Dark Knight and Batman Incorporated)
Marvel: Uncanny X-Force (also good: Deadpool, Hawkeye, Age of Apocalypse, Daredevil: End of Days and FuryMAX)
Others: Rachel Rising, Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm, The Manhattan Projects, Westward, Prophet, Glory, Super Dinosaur, Dan the Unharmable, Harbinger, Fashion Beast
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

If I had to recommend comics I'd go with Action Comics, Flash, and Batman. All solo books with great creative teams.
Pull-list: Action Comics, Batman, The Flash, Superman, Superman Unchained, Batman/Superman, Astro City

As of February, I hope it will be Lemire & Sorrentino's Green Arrow. Nothing else at the moment though.

Action Comics. Runner ups are Wonder Woman or Batman, Incorporated, depends on the month. Still, the three of them are awesome.

lol oh you guys. If you're gonna post non-DC books you might as well let us know how you feel they compare

I'll go with Wonder Woman. Beats Action in art and span, beats Supergirl in narrative.

DC does two types of comics better than Marvel. Pulp Fiction/crime comics and horror. As it turns out they have two writers that seem to have a good handle on the genres. Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire. Any book they write is worth looking at.

Pulp/Crime: Snyder's Batman is probably the easier DC book to jump into right now, since they just started a major new Joker story in the most recent issue. It's also a very good title.

Jeff Lemire is going to start writing Green Arrow with #17. He has said that he has long term plans for the book, so he won't be skipping out after six months. There was an 80 issue run of Green Arrow in the 80s & 90s by Mike Grell that defined the street level crime fighter for that era. Grell's run is a HUGE inspiration for the new Green Arrow TV show, and Lemire wants to bring the New 52 comic back to that after it has meandered for over a year with one bad creative team after another. Give it a look #17 if you like the TV show. His run won't start till Feb tho, so you can grab some of the Grell books in trade or digitally. Longbow Hunters was Grell's first GA book, and leads into his monthly. His run was part of DC's "mature readers only" line for over 60 issues of Grell's run. There were other DC heroes like Hal Jordan in the book at times, but only in their civilian identities. Much like the new TV show, the name "Green Arrow" was never mentioned in the book. No trick arrows. Just the pointy kind that went thru flesh and broke bones. If Lemire can channel that tone, it could replace Batman as DC's best "super-hero" book.

If you want an older crime book that's already complete, try 100 Bullets. It ran 100 issues and is available in trade, digitally and in hardcover. The book's writer, Brian Azzarello, also wrote a graphic novel simply titled Joker, that is a must-read.

Horror. No mainstream publisher since EC Comics in the 1950s has ever produced such a massive library of classic horror books as DC. In the 80s and 90s they had Swamp Thing. Animal Man. Sandman. Doom Patrol. Their oldest horror book, Hellblazer, will be wrapping up it's run soon after 300 issues. Trades are available for each title and are HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended if you like horror.

As far as new monthlies: Justice League Dark begins a new arc this month (out after Thanksgiving). Jeff Lemire took over with #9 and completely turned the book around. Warners wants to market the DC supernatural heroes in their own movie, so they're going to try to keep this one one of their top books. (Hellblazer's title character, John Constantine, is the star here and will be getting a solo New 52 book soon.)

Lemire's Animal Man and Snyder's Swamp Thing are beginning the final act of the Rotworld storyline that began in both of their first issues. The overall story is very epic for a modern comic, where "readers" with no attention span whine if a story takes more than four-six issues to complete. With the monthly issues, Annuals for each book and the final arc of Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E., the entire Rotworld epic will be around 40 issues long. Grab it in trade or digitally.

New 52 Wonder Woman has been rebooted as a horror book that plays heavily into her origins as part of Greek myth. Diana, the Godslayer would be an apt title for the tone of the book. Brian Azzarello from 100 Bullets writes this book and it's a fantastic book.
