I like the line up for JLA but was heavily disappointed by Johns Justice League so I will give it a weary shot.

Vibe, I know next to nothing about so I will wait for word of mouth/reviews but I am not sure if they can do for every unpopular character what they did for Aquaman.

Katana, would have been the book I would be most interested in were it not for Nocenti.

Again I haven't been following the news to closely but I will more than likely give Threshold a shot. I like Giffen and cosmic stories plus he wrote the original Annihilation at Marvel so pretty high hopes for this.

Overall though this is the least exciting new wave of books in my opinion.

Really? A Break Dancing sonic powered Super Hero? A concept that had already missed out on a Fad before it debued. How many reasons do you need on why this is a bad character. D-List would be being kind. Never mind the embarrasing way in which 'Vibe' was written before finally being killed off.

With the entire stable they have to pull from, this is about the last character I would have expected to get a solo book, and about the least likely to ever see a dime of my money.

Knock yourself out with it though. I will send you my VHS copy of Breakin 2, Electric Boogaloo if you PM me. Cutting edge stuff.

You do know that is very, very unlikely that he will still be a breakdancer, right?
Is the probably erased aspect of the character your only complaint?

But that image of how he was in the past is still in many readers minds.

It may not be an issue in terms of newer/younger readers, but it is a hurdle that the character has to overcome for older/longer readers who remember how much of a badly-written stereotype he once was. It's not impossible, though . . .

None of them, I'll just stick with the dark line, the few solo superhero books and the couple of edge titles I enjoy from DC.

    _|N|S|U|Avengers|Cap|DD||Hulk|Thor|XX

My point. That's why I asked why he thought why "Vibe is about the lamest character DC has ever come up with" and his answer was an aspect of the character that will probably no longer exist. That to me sounds just like someone who simply wants to dislike the character, no matter what, and I consider that to be silly, to use a light term.

But, to someone who has to decide if the book is worth spending any money on, if somebody does try it and find it (in their opinion) sucks, then you fall into the "Why was I dumb enough to give this charactor another chance?" category.

Gut instinct may be to avoid it like the plague until he at leasts we start seeing / hearing good reports about it first.

I'd love to see a good Katana book, but there's no way in hell I'd waste money on the current writer they've announced, no matter how much people may say her concepts for the book sound great. The proof will be the end results, then maybe I'll try it in a tpb.

Not really. The "lameness" in Vibe seems to have been removed. I mean, the concept of the character was recreated by Johns, that did some of my favourite revivals in comics.
If I end up regretting giving this a change it would be because the writer told a bad story and I would then blame the writer. I didn't stop liking Mr Terrific because of his awfull solo book, because that was not the character fault, it was the writer.
Whenever you decide to overlook a book because of the character just remember that there is one great story about Prez out there and at least two with Brother Power the Geek. Give things a try, at least.

Ditto, gonna give this book a shot. I've figured out that 14 comics a month is the absolute limit for my budget, so Katana will be the possible final ongoing to add to my list.
    Pull list:
Adv. Time, Avengers AI, Batgirl, Batman '66, B & R, BOP, E 2, Fearless Defenders, He-Man, JL: Dark, Katana, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ult. Spider-Man

Good point, and I'm starting to rethink my quick dismissal of the title. He'll have to be revamped to the point that he's basically a new character; if not to the Earth 2 extent, still enough that he might actually be worth reading about.

And it's possible that Katana's role as Batman's sidekick/partner in the new animated series had something to do with her getting a title. Public exposure, if for a different version of the character. But tv/movie appearances don't really impact sales of the mainstream DC books, so is that wishful thinking?
