Carol Danvers: Captain Marvel suit or Black suit?

Im a HUUUUUUUUGE Carol fan. I looove the black outfit BUT i think she needed an upgrade and an updated costume. Im SOO in love with the new look as well. So i voted for the new.

I think the new design is good and could be great with some tweaking. The rendering by Brooks is definitely the best I've seen. The longer sash adds some flair and balance, and the hair is also much better.

The black suit is a classic. The red Earth's Mightiest Heroes costume is very nice. The new suit is bland and boring.

Dave Cockrum is widely heralded as one of the best superhero costume designers for a very good reason.

The Green and Gold Phoenix costume was very form fitting,though.

Carol's new costume is growing on me. However, it might have been cool if she'd kept the same color scheme of her black Ms. Marvel costume. I can't complain about the new one, however.

I agree. I'm not so attached to the black leotard, but I prefer it to the current look because I hate that they chopped all her hair off.

Ironically though, they ARE still drawing her hair long in her own title. There is a lot of artistic inconsistency around the hair thing. It's still all over the place, six months later. I think DeConnick even recently commented on that. What Marvel really needs to do is lay down the law on what's correct so we at least know what that is.

As impractical as the black suit was, I still sort of dug it.

If it means anything, under the right artist it was the hottest of the outfits (IMO of course).

Last month was the 30th anniversary of Carol becoming Binary and the white (and red) suit! : )

Don't bad mouth Cockrum, shnookums. He had genius for days, and had an elegance that transcended generations. Plus, they all look better than these "functional" themed costumes.

I like a lot of his male character designs, but it's hard to deny that for women he started with a swimsuit / bikini and didn't go very far from there.
