    Default A camp batman

There has and always will be a lot of controversy over whether or not Batman has certain traits that portray his character with a homosexual element, one of the biggest arguments to come to light was the relationship Batman had with the character Robin during the 1950's through to the 70's. But why was it such a problem if Batman and Robin’s relationship was truly homophobic? Do you think it effected how fans perceived him as a hero?
If we didn't have the playground rumors about the possibility of Batman being gay and suddenly this became a new topic of discussion, do you think, knowing that homosexuality is culturally better accepted, that it would matter if he was now?

I don't think any fictional characters sexuality "matters" but I don't see why changing a characters sexuality would add anything to the stories. Batman's been straight for 70+ years, seems to work for him. Trying to shoehorn political connectedness onto him doesn't work for me.

The main controversy of whether Batman and Robin are gay or not mainly came from Fredric Wertham's "Seduction of the Innocent".

I would hope modern writers wouldn't take their queues from him and his silly book.

I think you mean homophilic, not homophobic.

It would be an issue since given Robin's age a relationship would be bordering on paedophilia.
