Big relaunch. Variant incentives. I suspect November to be another big month for Marvel. DC at best picks up a few thousand per Bat and GL books, due to their crossover stories, but they don't have anything BIG yet. December may see them more competitive as there's only one major relaunch in Hickman's Avengers which is arguably Marvel's most anticipated book of the relaunch. January goes to Marvel I'm guessing with Wolverine and Spider-man. DC owns February with JLA launching. By then Marvel's bigger books would have seen some drops in sales, and although they have another big X-book launching, I think the Johns/Finch/JLA combo will edge it out by a fair margin. JLA probably takes the number one spot in February.
By March we'd have a clear idea of if Marvel NOW worked for the big books, then April for the smaller books.

Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Youre still going to a get a slew of big titles like All-New X-men, Avengers, New Avengers, Superior Spider-man, Uncanny X-men plus the other middle levellers like Hulk, Wolverine, Thor etc. Not to mention titles like Wolverine and the X-men, Ultimate Spider-man and Daredevil that are already solidly steady.
All in all, I see Marvel having a slight edge in floppies put DC utterly dominating the trade section. I think both companies will continue to trade market share dominance.

And that's all with only ONE new title in October. Well, except for A + X. Did not expect that to be anywhere near the Top 10.
Damp squib, indeed.

It was also a 5-week month, did DC have any books out that 5th week?
Ah, good point. We'll see what November brings.
EDIT: Actually, there appear to have been plenty:

By "plenty" you mean "1"? There was only 1 regularly shipped book that week, Aquaman #13. There were a few additional Annual issues, and some Vertigos, and some kids books like Looney Tunes but not the usual output of a dozen new books, like Marvel had.
I agree with your original thought that November will be a better month to compare.
I'm not sure I understand. DC shipped at least 14 different floppies on October 31st. Marvel shipped 12. You can make the argument that DC's books weren't high sellers (or "regularly shipped"), but that wasn't the question you posed. You simply asked if DC had "any books out that 5th week [emphasis mine]."

Marvel NOW, my friend. Marvel NOW.
- Two Jonathan Hickman books featuring two of Marvel's most popular franchises.
- A Spider-Man comic starting at #1. (This may be the biggest news coming out of NOW).
- Frank Cho on one of Marvel's most enduring characters.
- A popular creative team on Uncanny Avengers. Even delays won't curb great sales.
- Bendis taking over the X-Men. It's likely the success of the Avengers books all over again (and for just as long).
These are just a few of the examples that AvX leaves in it's wake. I don't believe that Marvel will have many problems getting their books to stand on their own without an event. Any crossovers and summer events will simply prove to be more successful than the last in the NOW.
I personally can't wait for the successes of Marvel NOW to come rolling in. And you have to remember that this was neither a complete overhaul nor a reboot.![]()
