Klingons are afraid/annoyed by Tribbles. Ewoks are basically walking tribbles. Not good for the Klingons.

But before they could do that, they'd had to get over the part where they clap their hands over their ears and generally act anguished. Unlike Tribbles, Ewoks carry weapons. Despite how good Tribbles are at leaving Klingons in helpless misery it takes a while before for eating everything in sight permanently disables an enemy.
