And the bad guy in the Disney TARZAN animated movie got killed by having his neck snapped after he fell and got vines wrapped around his neck. And that movie was rated rated G. So what's your point?

There rarely (if ever) a "trickle" increase in back issue and tpb sales.

I doubt we have a reliable means of measuring that.

I think there a couple of things we need to take into consideration. If it's true that movies help improve sales of back issues and tpb, then the people who bought them know the characters don't dress in the books like they do in films, therefore there's no need to make them look the same now.

Regarding kids, they got into comics because they were able to buy them back then. How many kids do you know will have $3.99 to buy a comic these days?

If I'm right comics are helping people get into it, Comics are expensive for youths like me, I'm lucky that a 3.99 title costs me £2.75. But money is money, everyday I consider dropping something.

That is exactly my point. Children will survive.

And my point is that you can have "mature" subject matter in entertainment aimed at kids and/or all ages without being explicit or graphic. The violence/action scenes in INFINITY GAUNTLET were not depicted in a very graphic bloody and gory manner on panel.

I think the bigger question here is with all those fat movie checks marvel's been making why the hell can't we have cheaper comics?

Or more pages for a $3.99. I would really like to see how much money Marvel makes from the movies vs the comics. I bet the movies make loads more.

This has been posted a few times on the boards, but I'll say it again. Marvel Entertainment as a whole doesn't care about comics anymore. The direct comparison made by a Marvel employee is "If Marvel Entertainment is a really nice restaurant, then publishing is the cigarette machine in the lobby they occasionally shake loose for change."

The Avengers made what, $1.5billion dollars worldwide? How many people do you think saw it? I'd take 1% of that, sure.

I got into comics after watching the 90s Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to believe others have made a similar jump.

Whats is one percent of a billion?

My Math is foggy but that should be 10,000,000.You know what happens when that amount of people pick up a book is smashing success

Then if that's the case why do they have to bleed us dry for every last dime if we're the "Cigarette Machine" can't they just lower the prices so we can buy more books?

I feel that is the main reason why Marvel's doing this.

Could that be more of not being able to find the trades/comics?

I can make all the movies I want based on comics but if you can't find the source material in stores that you shop at it really doesn't matter.

Not very Barnes & Nobles or whoever will stock that stuff. I've seen more of that stuff in used book stores than I have at Wal-Mart or anywhere else.

Or your source material can be borrowed from your local library only. So why buy it?

Lets look at some of the books they are considering for films. I already know if Black Panther gets made into a movie-I know I'll need Sherlock Holmes to find any of his stuff. It was a witch hunt just to get his animated DVD. I can see the same thing happening with Guardians of the Galaxy. Nova, Dr Strange & the new Shield series.

You can't get new readers if they can't find your stuff. If you can't get it into Wal-Mart. You get your stuff into the SCHOOLS.

Growing up we had book fairs and book clubs that allowed you to order books.

If I am Disney-that is what I would be doing. Bring the books or trades to them. Do digests for $3.
