So I'm kind of done with Bendis' whole experiment. The book just hasn't been as good. I like the idea and part of me likes the direction, but I loved the way Bendis wrote Ultimate Spider-Man.
I think a lot of this is the way Bendis writes these long drawn out stories. I feel like nothing has happened in the book and we've gotten a huge creation story.
Miles is appealing and I could see myself liking him. I really enjoyed him in the Spider-Men mini. But he just isn't Peter Parker. I think that is the big thing. Spider-Man is a character driven book, and that character is Peter Parker.
I gave it a shot. Heck I even went into it with a fairly positive attitude. Heck even now I'm not that upset about it, but I'm ready for USM to start hitting its stride again. Honestly, I think we just need to put Bagley back on the book.
That is why I'm worried about where Slott is going. I just can't imagine not having my Peter Parker fix each month. I think Slott should bring back Peter as ASM removes him- if that is what even happens in ASM.
Any thoughts? Sorry if there is a thread about this already. I didn't see one and I don't venture into the Ultimate boards as much as I used too.
