Huh, I knew all about the Star Wars episode of The Muppet Show, but I'd never heard of this before:

Thats the possible scenario I'm afraid. As I'm sure the original cast have either moved on or doesn't want anything to do with SW. I wouldn't mind if the new movie included Mara Jade

But if you want to continue adventures of Luke/Han/Leia ... its almost a necessity. Hamill and Ford are pretty old now, and Fisher is, well, plump. Plus there's the whole issue of "would they even want to play those characters again?". Hamill and Fisher I could see being up for it, I kind of get the impression Ford has moved on though.

That's fine if Zimmer adds to it, as long as he doesn't *replace* it. You can always add additional pieces to the body of STAR WARS music, but if you completely remove the most identifiable aspects of it (e.g. the main titles, the Force theme, etc.), you lose its distinct identity.

Yes, given what happened with Disney getting Marvel which effectively sealed the fates of the FOX aired Wolverine and the X-Men and Spectactular Spider-Man.

I don't think there's any question that they'll make more movies with Luke, Han, and Leia. Honestly, they'd be fools not to. And there's no viable way to do that without casting younger actors. It's pretty much a given as far as I'm concerned.

Well who says that if the original cast returned they'd be the main protagonists. Handing the Franchise down to the next generation with the original cast in supporting roles might be wise.

There are plenty of Stories set way past return of the jedi.
Dark emipier can be retooled a bit.

Clone Wars is made in house at Lucasfilm. Why would this change that? Because Time Warner own Cartoon Network?

If you'd want to use the Original Trilogy cast again, I'd again say a Yuzoong Vong trilogy could work. The characters there are roughly the same age as the actors now.

Given how much CGI Star Wars films have used in the past it's possible they could do up Leia a bit to be less 'plump'. It would be worth it if they actually tried to finally bring Mara Jade and the Solo family line into the Star Wars universe.
