While CCI isn't going anywhere any time soon, I think that the general fear is that NYCC may soon become THE comic con. Not as crazy as it sounds. This year saw 116k attendance and the con keeps on growing each year. I was at the 1st one back. There were only 15k-20k there and it seemed huge at the time. This year.... WOW! That thing was packed. Not an inch of floor space left. Scary as it sounds, with the expansion being done to Javits, 2013 will be even bigger. No reason to think that it couldn't soon eclipse CCI in attendance. Still, like I said, CCI isn't going anywhere. There's still a major desire for it over on the west coast too.

From what I hear it may already be the comic con, compared to CCI being the pop culture con.
