John Hickman, you bastard, you're stealing from China Mieville's amazing Dial H!

Go read it for the original story!

(No, I'm not serious; I know how common Ex Nihilo is)

Legit though, pick up Dial H.

I'm interested in seeing how big of an impact Ex Nihilo makes given how important the Omega symbol seems to be. Hickman obviously linking Black Panther's new status quo as the King Of The Dead and the formation of the upcoming New Avengers makes it all the more intriguing.

First thing that came to my mind was the Final Crisis design for Darkseid:

    Indeed.

Best part of that image is the wonderful nod to Simonson's Orion.

Has it been stated somewhere that they Illuminati are reforming and calling themselves the New Avengers?

Well it doesn't look like they'll be calling themselves anything since the whole group operates in secret, but the New Avengers title will focus on that group of characters + Black Panther, yes. Hickman revealed it during that Avengers conference call they did a couple of weeks ago.

I'm very excited! I can't wait. I made a big mistake by not reading Hickmans Fantastic Four/FF work earlier on. Won't miss out on Avengers!

Politely skipping this: it's my team book allergy thing.

Comic book titles do not always match with how the team calls itself: New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Secret Warriors, FF

I've noticed they don't do the old 'Marvel style' anymore. Where the writer plots out the books, gets it approved by the editor, then gives it to the artist.

Some creators do. I know Dan Slott does.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

I don't think Hickman has any settings anymore besides grand, over-the-top s***. That's a welcome change from the Bendis street-level obsession, but not every villain needs to be a cosmic megalomaniac messiah-complex Latin scholar. My favourite FF stories of his were the ones where it was just Franklin and Val taking on Norman Osborne, or Johnny taking Franklin to the toy store, or Ben enjoying his week of normalcy. I hope Hickman gives us some character moments in Avengers, because the Celestial Saga in FF was just exhausting and stupidly overplayed, and it will get old before long.
