Kingsley is an awesome actor, and I've no doubt he'll hit this role out of the park.

But he's too old. He doesnt look right at all.

Any chance of a Doctor Who style regeneration?

Considering how old RDJ is, I'm fine with Kingsley looking older. I do wonder how they're going to manage the action scenes.

I've heard that Mandarin gets his own suit of armor in this movie as well. So, if that's the case, it'll probably be mostly CG.

Finally, we get to see the Mandarin in the Iron Man movies! He's been hinted at since the first movie. It's nice to see him finally show up. I also like the Extremeis-like look of the new armor. I think the combination of one of Iron Man's most well-known villains along with one of the best Iron Man stories of the past decade will make for a great movie.

I would actually take issue with that. I get that Iron Man's thing is fighting men in armor, but what really helped sell the Mandarin as a threat is that he continued to be the biggest thorn in Tony's side without armor at his disposal. He faced Tony with nothing but his rings, his wit and his fists. Even without his rings he'd be formidable.

Seeing as Extremis seems to be a big deal for this, it's just as likely that he'll get some form of that so he can go toe-to-toe. It's a bit of a cheat, but a more acceptable one over yet another armored menace.

i just had a thought re: this being the first MCU Phase II movie ~ will they keep the Mandarins rings and will they be alien in origin? We know Phase II is going to get Cosmic between the Thanos tease and Guardians of the Galaxy... Will they start seeding that here and will Mandarin's rings have anything to do with that???

Yeah, to be honest I really hope the ending isnt Iron Man vs another Iron Man knockoff. People were already kind of tired with that after 2. I hope they keep Mandarin's magic-ring aspect in some form, I like the juxtaposition of technology vs magic. I'm also figuring Mandarin will get something Extremis related in order to keep him on par with Stark.

For some reason I didn't think about that... Mandarin's rings could be some nice way to tie things into the rest of the MMU

I figure there will eventually be a lot of brouhaha over this casting, and people will ignore that Kingsley has Indian in his bloodline.

I'm not sure how being indian relates to a character named Mandarin.
Yes, it's the same continent but...
It's like if you cast a guy from kenya to play a guy from egypt and your defense is "Well, both are african."

I should have elaborated more. It'll generate a lot of the rabble about Hollywood ignoring Asians in general.

One major thing is that they apparently shot in China and had cooperation from the Chinese government and some funding. The Dark Knight ran into some big problems with the Chinese government because they shot a big action sequence in Hong Kong, and then had the only Chinese person in the movie be a sniveling, evil banker who gets killed by the Joker. They were not too keen on that so it might have influenced the decision to not actually portray Mandarin as a Chinese man.
