Sledgehammer 44

I really like the attention to detail on all the military gear, vehicles and weaponry. I'm not sure about the stylistic noses on the characters, reminds me of Bob Hope, but overall this looks impressive. WW2 and Robots are ALWAYS a good mix!

Of all the variety of artists we've seen on the newer BPRD books, this guy is one of my favorite. Really enjoy the style, feels fresh.

Severin was the go to guy for all things war comics, but since he's no longer with us this guy looks like a solid stand in.

So it appears that this is not exactly a BPRD story. I wasn't sure if this was going to carry the BPRD banner or not.

I'm not sure what the deal is with Sledgehammer '44 is in terms of what series it belongs to. At the moment it appears to be an orphaned series belonging to nothing, although it could be the first story in a series about Trevor Bruttenholm in WWII, which Mike Mignola has mentioned a few times. Obviously the series is set during World War II, and Jason Latour mentioned that Trevor Bruttenholm makes an appearance, so it could fit into that series.

I was hoping the solictations would reveal the series title if it is even going to have one. I guess not.

I was thinking it was just going to be called Sledgehammer, as in thats what the logo would be. So a new series of that name with the sub header of the year its about, first one being '44. Similar to the BPRD's 1940's stories.. But thats just a guess.

I would think the title or full header would be "Sledgehammer '44", a two-issue series (at least as for now), which appears to get described as something initially intended for the famous comic book legend John Severin (famous for intricate western tales both as war stories, plus he did some pastiche/political stuff for Mad if I'm not mistaken), but since he passed away, plus with Jason Latour getting discovered as seeming a mighty and crazy apt successor, one and two was put together?

It seems to me "Sledgehammer '44" might be a title like Lobster Johnson, or Witchfinder: eventhough BPRD wouldn't be in the title, such wouldn't mean there couldn't prove to exist some or any kind of interconnectedness - albeit one would be to note, that in 1944 there was no BPRD?

And should it ever be to get followed up on, then maybe that would be called "Sledgehammer" plus another date - or maybe not?
