is this the issue with all the fun rape and stuff everyone is complaining about?
I am floored by this, Manapul is one of the best artists in business in my opinion.
Manapul: Fantastic artist.
Amethyst holding a bloody sword: Oh, right, it's the new all-bloody all-stabby DCU. God.
rapetastic!
It's a great image, that I think misses the entire point of the Amethyst that came before it. But in representing the current interpretation? Pretty great.
You are an apocalypse dreaming of butterflies

we are a patchwork of miracles.
Why does everyone keep shouting rape. We all read the same issue and no one was raped. Amy Winston stopped it. It's the opposite of Identity Crisis.
For the book title, and for the Beowulf backup, and for any number of characters connected to the genre (a genre I personally love), sure. But does Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld, really need to be that kind of book? But her creators said their piece about it already here on CBR. It's just... Amethyst holding a bloody sword. Gah. Ick.
Me neither, which is why I just went "oh, ick" rather than a massive block of text, as is often my wont. Just let it roll off your back like water off of a duck... rolllllll off your back... om... om...
Ah, it's okay. Interaction is nice. :)Shouldn't have asked.
Oh, I know, though not all teens, young adults, or even old adults would mind something more akin to the previous Amethyst series, even before the Dr. Fate business and so on. But that damn narrow target market seems to be where DC is aiming pretty much everything. Heck, even more grim/gritty/graphic stuff (looking squarely at the increasingly crossover-happy Jonah Hex series here, which deserves its own thread so I'm off to make one now) is being affected in ways I don't like.We already know DC is targeting teenagers and young adults for these books.
