and it's not like WWE is short on jobbers either. i guess it's a way of giving guys try out matches at least.

oh no doubt, that was the most enjoyable aspect of the ryback squashes for me and target employees around the world. one week it would be ricky reyes, the next kirby mack, then BLK JEEZ(who 1 week later was on impact winning a match against harold).

that's actually not the case, it's just the midcarders in WCW had some credibility. even if they weren't main eventers there were some big tough guys with plenty of xperience to go through, guys like the barbarian, regal, norton, meng etc. the highest profile feud goldberg had before winning the main title was with ravens flock, and while raven was awesome and likely should've been a maineventer he never got there.
Mr. Backlund continued wrestling under the new gimmick of an out of touch, yet highly dangerous, maniac out to teach the new generation a lesson.[3] He often appeared in business suits, had a hyperactive personality, and used (or, often, misused) large words to sound important. He also demanded that he be addressed as "Mr. Backlund". He would only sign autographs for wrestling fans if they could recite the names of all of the US Presidents in chronological order

That's probably how the WWE will spin it to pad his resume.
ehh, maybe its because I dont get Ryback squash matches in my version of the shows. but, you could you please put names? I dont get who those were? and what former wwe champ he defeated?

He beat Miz, who has been nothing since losing the belt and was very little while having it, and he beat Swagger, who...LOL LOL LOL.

The two former world champs were Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler. The former WWE champ as alex said was the Miz, the former tag team champs he beat two on one were Primo and Epico and I counted the Miz twice because if you're not using names you can do that.

Jack Swagger - a world champ who held the belt for, what, a month? and then lost it on his first title defense?
Eh, Comics is a pretty cool guy...

The Swagger title reign was awesome and cut short too soon, but your point goes back to my original point that it looks more impressive if you don't look at who the guys are or the actual circumstances of the title reigns.

Yeah, I understand what you're getting at.

I just think it's insulting (not by you, but by WWE i guess) to my intelligence to try and fool me with this "Look at all of these champs he's beaten" and not remember that most of these champs didn't deserve the belt in the first place. It's like trying to wow me by saying the Seahawks beat the Packers without mentioning the horrible refs.

Looked it up - Swagger's title reign lasted almost three months. And I'm another one who liked his title reign. I understand he's getting the Brian Kendrick treatment right now, but I still think that Swagger can work out long-term. But the WWE strategy of letting Ryback pile up wins against people is naturally going to include guys who had fallen out of the main event. It's a way to get something extra out of guys who are underperforming a bit.

And the Packers beat themselves by putting themselves in the position to allow the refs to do anything to them. Losers complain about the referees or getting the sun in their eyes, winners move on.

Or the Pats. Man they better get stomped by the 49ers today!

Oh, you're one of those people who excuse refs making the obviously wrong call because "dur hur they shouldnt have put themselves in that spot". Lest we ignore, if the refs would have done their job right it wouldn't have even gotten there anyway ;)

I always tell my kids, if you let the officials decide the fate of the game, you deserve to lose. I don't agree with the call either but them's the breaks, kid.

I hate to start a debate, but that's pretty weak logic and its also kind of a slap in the face to the Seahawks too. Green Bay didn't play a great game but Seattle was definitely in that game and had a legit chance to win it and its more a testament to how hard the Seahawks fought to get into that spot in the first place. The Packers did everything they could to stop Seattle from winning that game and they still got jobbed in the end. Saying they deserved to lose because Seattle is good too is a really weak excuse to justify a screwjob like that.

First off, I like watching football fans getting upset. About anything. This time, it's Green Bay fans. Their tears are like nectar from the heavens, but slightly cheese-flavored.

And the NFL and real referees screwed it up by not getting a deal done.

But mostly, I hate hearing people whining about officiating. Sometimes, calls don't go your way. Making a big deal over it makes Green Bay fans look bush league. They lost a game, big whoop. Everyone loses. Not everyone cries a river of tears over it.

And, to tie this back into wrestling, it was also fun to see what would happen if you had wrestling referees working real sports. I know, Green Bay's leg was on the ropes, but the ref didn't see it. And if the ref didn't see it, it didn't happen.

Hey, you can always work hard and get better. That's where the criticism of any failure should start. Do all that you can first, and then worry about what other people are doing.
