I watched the Arrow pilot and the thing is that even though it was better than Smallville, it was just about the same thing. Less melodrama and sappy crap, but the same style, the same wooden acting, the same feel, even the same freaking Luthor mansion that is now Ollie's.
And WW will be the same. Some girl in a leather jacket and a pair of jeans punching bad guys. They'll use that mansion for Lord's house or whatever. Whoop dee doo.
Like that link you posted says, they really took the "super" out of superhero, and it's just not fun spending your time watching some guy shoot arrows to beat criminals. Why not watch something more interesting or clever than a pale, watered down adaptation of a comic?
Ah.... sorry for the rant.
I think Arrow was awesome. Yeah, it was just a badass kicking bad guys butts, but it WORKS for Green Arrow. The fight scenes were the best. Really, I couldn't stop thinking "how they made these scenes so awesome, but on WW pilot not even the fights were good?". I mean, his fighting skills seems very unique and badass.
There are some cliches, but there are lot of things you wouldn't expect.
Wonder Woman loves you too.
I'm hopeful that it will be good.
I'm sure it will bear little resemblence to the "classic" Wonder Woman than many fans know and love, but the New 52 Wonder Woman is pretty different, yet still enjoyable. Hopefully the new TV series Wonder Woman (or Diana/Amazon as she'll likely be known) is equally enjoyable.
Eh, I don't really care for Heinberg. His run was way too much of a Pre-Crisis throwback for my tastes. I think WW would potentially work on CW, if they did something like Buffy and the Azz book. Horror fantasy with some soap opera sensibilities.
I'm just concerned with the overall concept becoming stale. It worked for Smallville, but will it be stale for Green Arrow? Will it be even more stale with this project? I dunno. I'm not saying one way or the other I'm just thinking.
But this is all pretty much "today's" TV-Making.
You know when you watch something from 2000-2004 and you can guess pretty much by looking at it when it was made? This is today's feel. the "wooden" acting, the sets.. etc..
I also feel that since this show will be reaching a wider (TV) audience than the comic, they're going to pretty much going to redefine who Wonder Woman is in the public's eye based on whatever take they choose for this TV show.
Rob Olivera's
Velvet: The Unusual Superheroine!
Hopefully the network picks up Amazon and hopefully it's successful and good.
Sounds interesting to say the least.
Although Nicolas Winding Refn wants to do a Wonder Woman film. Apparently he's been promised it if Logan's Run is successful. Will be interesting to see which one ends up getting produced.
Here's how I think it would go.There's a contest going on the island.Whoever wins gets the mantle of WW.An 18 year old Diana Price has been training for this her whole life for this.Suddenly, a plane crashes on the island, with a 22 year-old Steve Trevor on it.He's in a brief coma and the amazons help him recover.A new rule for the contest has been added, whoever wins it gets to be WW and gets to escort Steve Trevor back to the USA.She wins the contest and escorts Steve Trevor back to the Man's world. She doesn't have a city like Superman, she's just a free-roamer.So she'll have adventures like between different places of the world and paradise island.
Her powers are super-strength,durability, and reflexes. She doesn't have super-speed but she's fast as a gazelle like her amazon members. She can't fly yet but she will soon.I want flight for her to be special moment but she doesn't get it until the last few episodes in season 3(i think season 3 will be the last season).Fully-realized in the last few episodes of amazon will have super-speed and flight.
Anybody else have a vision for the show?

It was good and it worked for G.A. But i had already seen a similar thing with a toned down superman. In other words they toned down Superman to G.A. levels so when it came to the latter to get his own TV series, it didnt feel like nothing new.
And if they do the same for WW, it will be boring. At the very least they should make her show more rural based like Supernatural where the 2 bros drive around small villages instead of big cities. Just... something to distinguish it from what we've already had twice.
That might be the case, but on the other hand Smallville didnt do that for Superman i think. Some girls didnt even know he was Superman.
I loved Arrow, I thought it was the best new show I've seen since Downton Abbey. On the other hand I have serious doubts about WW, but that's because it's a TV show. It's just very rare for a TV series to be really worth while, and this would be a hat trick.

‘Arrow’ Producers Talk Crossover Potential With Wonder Woman Series ‘Amazon’

I like your ideas but I doubt they'll do the Steve Trevor origin. I bet they're saving that classic origin for big screen. They say this show will focus on a young, pre-WW Diana. Now, I'd love a show featuring an all-female civilization--their relationship dynamics, lesbianism, royal hierarchy, religious practices, etc.--but those adult themes would work best on Showtime, not the CW's target demo. I'm thinking they need to get Diana to man's world early and without Steve (at least at first). Maybe they'll pattern it off Odyssey?
Bottom line: they won't film classic origin for tv and then do it in a big-budget WW movie a few years later.
