Hadn't read the bit from Alonso. If I recall, he and Didio were both editors on it for a time.

Don't remember DiDio ever being an editor of Hellblazer.

Sorry. You're right. I read it wrong. He was VP editorial around the time of Haunted.

Collins's run way okay - if unspectacular. 'Unreadable' is about right for Wheeler though. The worst comic I've ever read.

At its worst it was mediocre, but there was a lot of good stuff in there too. The Wild Thing story was great and the interactions with DCU characters like Superman, Batman and Guy Gardner were great. It was the jumping backward through time storyline that lost me.

I thought Diggle's run was very poor - and Dysart's was worse. Loved the art though.

When I asked him some months ago why isn't he working at DC/Vertigo now, he said they didn't want him (he'd be working there otherwise) and they didn't want him to make Northlanders into a TV show...so yeah LOL.

It just boils to the lack of creator rights and NEW concepts and better story telling.

And lets face it, DiDio and Lee are micromanaging the company (very badly).
    Who's there?

DiDio and Lee don't micromanage Vertigo.

I don't think it was Didio and Lee doing anything with Vertigo.
The contracts are pretty loose and free with the term 'creator-owned', and most creators tend to stay away since they can get more creator friendly deals at other companies.

Karen Berger is still the Vertigo editor I believe. I usually hear creators say pretty nice things about her.

What people say in the public about someone they worked with and what they say in off the record talks with friends, coworkers are different things. Berger isnt suppose to be a friend of the creators, she decides what they make and dont make in Vertigo comics.

There must be a reason longtime creators in Vertigo is going to Image/Dark Horse. They cant all be unwanted, they must be getting better deals from other publishers with their creator owned works.

Vertigo is still a part of DC and its not a imprint creating many new comics like before.

Probably because signing with Vertigo means that you can only pitch for a TV Show or Film with WB. And if they say no then that's it, you don't have a TV Show. Had The Walking Dead been Vertigo then there wouldn't be a TV Show and the spike in sales it brought.
...And does Mr. Goddanm Batman says so much as ''Thanks''? OF COURSE not. That'd hardly be GRIM AND GRITTY, would it?

    The jerk...
