The book has been selling more or less the same for quite some time, so sales levels don't make sense as a reason for the cancellation.
Yes, the TPB sales were consistently good enough. It is typical of Vertigo titles to sell better in TPB than in floppies.
Please go troll some other thread since you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Asterios Polyp / Daytripper / Promethea / Sandman / Death / Maus / Watchmen / V for Vendetta / Lucifer / Top 10
Go look at some ICV2 numbers the past decade of Hellblazer.... (waits...)
Now do you realize that in no way would DC allow a comic to run 100 issues if sales were that bad. Its the same way Jonah Hex survived. TPB sales kept it going.
What DC is gambling on the same fans picking up the lighter version. Which so far judging from the negative reaction ...won't happen.

Sucks 200 character limit.
They're gambling on new fans to pick it up as well....I mean hey, it worked for the main DC line.
It worked for "some" of the DC Line. Look at the cancellations since then. Not everything has worked. This itself with the negative press so far (creators have said it sucks) the writer is trying his hardest to tell fans to read. But the negative attention to it , may kill the series .

Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

They could always do mini series of the Vertigo Hellblazer.
It still sucks to do a stunt like this .. lay him to rest, but don't neuter him ..
That's because it's The Justice League. There are books that will sell no matter what just because of the characters or because people like to collect them. No one grew up with Nu52's Constantine, books like that rely on the quality of their stories and even then, DC Comics fans are fickle. It wont last as long as Hellblazer did. I give it less that 30 issues.
And there was No Need for that. Frank Castle: The Punisher and PunisherMax were published at the same time as The Punisher and both audiences fed from each other.

...And does Mr. Goddanm Batman says so much as ''Thanks''? OF COURSE not. That'd hardly be GRIM AND GRITTY, would it?
The jerk...
-DKU's Jim Gordon.
You want DiDio and company to admit they're wrong and then say "Okay, you can have the old version back again"?!?
Are you on crack or something? I think it's more likely the DCnU will suddenly revert back to the pre-CoIE version of the DC Universe, and they'll suddenly install Al Gore as President of the United States before Christmas of this year.

Remember the last incarnation of JL pre-new 52? It didn't sell well. So no, the characters alone doesn't sell. See Batman. The main Batman book breaks 100k every month but the rest Batman doesn't sell that much. Creative teams and directions matter.
I the DCU Constantine has the same mature themes, there's no reason why it won't sell the same or even better than Hellblazer. Unfortunately I don't see DC going that way.

With all due respect, were you hearing very good things about the current run of Hellblazer? I ask this because 1) I don't remember the series being even reviewed in major websites like CBR and Comics Alliance, 2) I forgot when was the last time the series was even nominated for an Eisner, Harvey, anything really, 3) I don't think the series even had any word of mouth promoting it. No one remembered this series until a few weeks ago, and all of the sudden it's the greatest comic book ever and everyone's sad to see it go.
Considering the output of recent years, I'm relieved to see it end at last.
