    Default REVIEW: X-Men #37

Things come to a head within Storm's team, as loyalties and betrayals are revealed in Brian Wood and David López's last issue of their fantastic "X-Men" run.

I agree with this review. Brian Wood's run on adjectiveless X-men has really hit its stride lately. Unlike previous stories, he really took his time to develop the proto-mutant arc. What really stood out in this issue was that the biggest battle had nothing to do with the proto-mutants or any other typical threat. It was between Storm and Colossus. This kind of internal infighting isn't often explored and I think Wood did a great job here. While I could argue the score shouldn't be quite that high, I won't because I think the review was still spot on. It's just a shame that so much of what Wood is doing is essentially obtructed by AvX.

    Agree.

Just checked Amazon; are they really splitting this 8 issue run into two trades?

Nice end to a solid run.

I really wish these guys were staying on or doing the Uncanny X-Force relaunch.

Just got this issue recently, and man, will I miss this creative team! Wood's Storm is a thing of beauty, even if she barely used her powers throughout his run, you always knew you were messing with a strong woman! Loved how she calmly told Psylocke to turn off the electronics as Piotr was choking her out! Its a shame Marvel pulled the plugs so soon, I can only hope Wood and Lopez get to use Storm some more in the future.

Wood has a real affection for the X Men but sadly I think the 616 universe X Men have had their day. The obvious hatred Brevoort has for this franchise, and the sly way Quesada, another X Men hater, has put him in charge of them leads me to think that they intend to run X Men into theground permanently and replace them with this weird Avengers/X hybrid. The best X stories are now in the Ultimate U. Written by Mr Wood!
