I can't help but think that this book would have performed much better if it had been saved for Marvel Now instead of carelessly thrown into the market right in the middle of a big event when interest in new peripheral titles couldn't possibly have been lower.

I don't think it would have been much different and definitely not for the better. I think it had a good change at surviving at the time #1 of this came out, the timing was great, because no other new X_books was taking attention at the time. If it would have been during NOW, it probably would have been cancelled sooner, because other NOW titles probably attract more readers.

The only way the book would have worked it a different writing style. Mike Carey or Kyle & Yost might have been able to keep this book alive.

I refuse to believe this until the entire event is over, since they mentioned Sage/Gambit interactions in the interviews.

Yeah, all I saw death-wise in this issue was a foreshadowing conversation between Dazzler and bratcrawler.

We already know Dazzler survives the crossover. Odds are that Sage and Howlett will as well.
