That Iron Man armor kind of looks similar to the Cancerverse Iron Man from Thanos Imperative. I doubt it's the cancer verse Tony, but I'm wondering if it's Star Lord IN the Cancerverse Iron Man's armor?

He did not even think the law... he merely lived the law without thinking about it at all." ~ Jack London, White Fang
The exaggeration of the lack of diversity is tiresome but diversity is necessary, I think. Obviously, some people do care about it, so would be smart for Marvel to expand their customer base. Plus, it's good for PR.
Characters don't necessarily have to be like the reader to be relatable. They just have to have depth, so the reader can understand the character and empathise with them.
I think Marvel is trying to have more diversity, but we have to sensible here- they're not going to give up the places of cash cow characters to unpopular minority characters.
The sure fire way that Classic Nova fans will show their displeasure and disinterest - and believe me the storm clouds in the Nova camp have been billowing furiously for some time now - in the new Nova is very simple. They'll not buy one single issue. When Nova's last series debuted under Dna - many did their utmost by buying three or more copies - and the sales figures - not exactly at the same level for the likes of the FF, Avengers and multiple X-titles were reasonable for the fan base.
Here through Marvel and Loeb primarily are doing their best to rip apart an established fan-base - and substitute it with a flimsy carbon-copy that will only have appeal to those who follow the Ultimate Spiderman cartoon show. Fans don't want to see a watered down - regurgitated version - taking some of the concepts and doing it as a memorial. They want the real deal. And nothing else.
I do plan to give GOTG a go - but as for Nova - well at the moment I'm resisting to spend a penny on it and I never though I'd ever type that in any forum. The only way things could go forward on a more positive note is have 2 Nova titles - one for NINO - one for the original - and if that did have a flying pig's chance of happening - I wonder which one would sell the best?

McNiven is the artist here though. Can't hold Bendis solely responsible for everything.
Vision, Quasar, Photon and Blue Marvel don't sell.
If it is (an) Iron Man, it's actually a smart move, if you can get past the kneejerk reaction. He'd be the gateway character to get people reading the book who would otherwise not pick it up, as the other characters are more obscure than the ones you just listed.
Moon Knight by Bendis/Maleev only just scraped it's way to a nice round 12 issues before finishing only a few months ago.

If that's Starlord in the Iron Man Cancerverse armor than I color me sold on this with one disappointment; and that is Gamora CARRY A GUN AND DRESSED AS A STORMTROOPER. I am really disgusted with them stripping Gamora of her RPG/Medieval personality dressed as warrioress and carrying a big bad boy sword.

Do any of the people who complain about the strong white male presence in comics bother to realize that the majority of comic readers are white men? That 72% of Americans are white? That 75% of comic book readers are male? Why would Marvel pander to an audience that they don't have? I agree that diversity in all aspects is important but let's face it, most comic book characters were made in the 1940s-1970s and the racial diversity was even less during that time than it is now. And comics have always been a boys game, not because female characters are bad but, because women largely view them as uninteresting. The fact is that they do their best to diversify their characters but they need characters that readers identify with (especially Marvel since that's their thing instead of the unstoppable paragons like DC) and the readers are white males.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to notice that line of dialogue. If it's followed up on properly, it could make for a nice twist somewhere down the line.
As for these announcements, I'm more sold on Nova than I am on Guardians.
Yeah, Loeb has a so-so (at best) reputation nowadays, but I still tend to enjoy his work more often than not. I also don't mind a new Nova. Don't get my wrong, Richard Rider is one of my favorite characters, but based on how Thanos Imperative ended, it seems like a good restart point for the franchise. I would like a little backstory as to how it ties in to what came before but I don't want it to dominate the book. Let Loeb take the franchise where he wants, for better or for worse. Also, did anyone happen to notice when Nova ships? I musta missed it.
As for Guardians, I'm nervous about Bendis handling these characters (I haven't been reading Avengers Assemble, though I might get the trade of the first volume for kicks). I'm also not sold on McNiven on a cosmic book. He seems like he'd work really well in an X-title, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Finally, $4 a book for both of these does seem extreme, despite the talent involved.
