"Life is about compromise" is one of those utterly meaningless things people say as if it's axiomatic without ever backing up what they actually mean or defending their assertion.
I think it's so blindingly obvious as a truism that it doesn't need backing up or defending. None of us get to do 100% of what we want 100% of the time.
Or, to quote the French so I sound even more philosophical: C'est la vie.
Or I'm just getting old and seeing these things more clearly.
